I am a REJECT

This is basically a pointless thread in which I feel pitiful because I was rejected from UNC-Chapel Hill and University of Chicago.

I guess this thread does have a point... for us to say aww

so here you go

awwwww offers an e-hug

Thanks. I feel better... not really, but I appreciate your e-hug. Very cool.

*gives an e-kick

seriously though, this is pointless. if you want sympathy get it from those who actually know you. Don't expect students on CC to show you pity because some of us will be in the same boat soon.

Naw, its understandable, I'd have probably done the same just coz I post semi regularly, and unlike our friends we are the ones who are transferring.
So, its more of a mutual understanding thing.

Chill, CC, you still got your other colleges, I only applied to two, and both are reach.

Thanks Don_k.

Kalikodark, unfortunately, my so-called "real" friends don't care. Anyway, I did not really expect pity. I just I needed to admit publicly that I am a reject in order to find a peace of mind. I honestly did not think anyone would offer me any support or sympathy. In fact, I thought this thread would not even have one reply.

You are not a reject, you received a rejection. Matter of semantics: the letter isn't so much a reflection on you as it is on the school's priorities for admission.

The idea now is to go somewhere else and rub in the faces of UChicago and Chapel Hill that you're awesome and they're going to regret not having you. :D

I know how you feel, i've recived 3 decisions so far and all rejections. Im sure you'll end up some where you like.

uchicago deferred me until they recieve a midterm report... i guess they're on the fence for me

hey man atleast they tell you you're rejected rather than keep you on your toes. Last year i got waitlisted at Wake, they never sent me a rejection letter, so i called in late july and they told me "maybe next year if you transfer"...but point is...there's still hope and don't give up!

I'm afraid there's very little hope for gettng in if you're waitlisted. Check out the link below.

http://home.hamptonroads.com/stories/story.cfm?story=85087&ran=69001

do they waitlist at chicago?

I suppose I should not lose all hope yet. After all, I did apply to a total of sixteen schools because I anticipated that my unusual situation might either hurt me a lot or help me a lot. I guess it is the former rather than the latter. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for my top two choices: UCB and UCLA.

Besides, even if I am rejected, I can probably make into a different UC for winter without too much damaged done.

Anyway, thanks for all your comments, even if you think that I am just *****ing and complaining (which I am). I appreciate everyone's feedback. I guess the main problem is everyone at my CC thinks I am somehow brilliant and that no school would ever deny me, even though I am very very very far from perfect and my record reflects that.

what is your transferring g.p.a. ranking at and were you trying to transferre to unc chapel hill from out of state?

I got rejected from NYU and BC, it happens.

Wow, you brought back this thread from April! I feel better. I am planning to attend UCLA. Much cooler than UNC at Chapel Hill (for me at least ;) ). I have received acceptances at USC, UCLA, UVa, and UT-Austin.

My stats
Current College: California Community College
Major: Business/Economics/Business Economics
GPA: 3.73
Units: 116.5
ECs: Student Government, Honor Society, TA for economics, Clubs, Volunteering, etc.
Work Experience: Not much
SAT: 1470

Congrats, CC. It must be a nice, relieving feeling to be accepted into UCLA and all of the other schools you listed after all of your hard work. :)

So no UVA? Well, being from Cali, UCLA (along with Texas and USC) would've made more sense distance wise.

Good luck at UCLA, CC.

Yea, I finally decided on UCLA. They accepted me more than two weeks later than most people received their notifications, so I really gave up on UCLA at some point. Then when I found out that I was accepted, I decided to re-evaluate my decision to go to UVa, and after feeling really conflicted for several days, I decided that UCLA would be a better option for me. Though I am kind of sad about UVa, which was also a great opportunity for me. I guess I ended up being much luckier than I thought I would be. I was just somewhat impatient at the beginning.

I assume that you already sent your deposit to UVA. Is that binding?
