Hi i am a US citizen and my parents are not they both are not. they do not live in the US either i would like to know how would the tax questions be done if they do not pay taxes in the US but do in there country.

same here. so same advice will apply to me.

I found this info

When you file the FAFSA, convert your family’s financial information into US$ at the exchange rate of the date of filing. If they do not have Social Security numbers, you can use 000-00-0000 instead. If you don’t have a Social Security number, contact the Citizens Services office at the closest US Consulate for help with that.

I’ve got a list of students like you in the computer that Happydad is using right now. When I can get to it, I will send it to you two so you can get in touch with others in your situation.

thank you very much for the help also i wouldnt be able to file for September 2012 at this moment right?

FAFSA for the 12/13 academic year will not be available until January 1st. You can request your PINs now as they sometimes take several days. Make sure you write them down and keep them in a safe place as you’ll need them for all future FAFSAs and federal loans.

Also, make sure that you use only the fafsa.ed.gov site, not fafsa.com (which is a paid site)!

The FAFSA formula is available as a PDF document at http://www.ifap.ed.gov/efcformulaguide/attachments/082511EFCFormulaGuide1213.pdf

You should print that out and work through it with your parents. This way you will know which financial records are necessary for filing the FAFSA, and you will have a better idea of what your FAFSA EFC will be.
