So I am an international student and am wanting to study in the USA. I am currently resident in Pakistan and over here our school ends at grade 10 and then we have college. I am currently in grade 10 and want to go to the US after this grade and when I checked the SAT and SAT subject exam syllabus, it was all that I have learned so I can give those exams without a problem. I want to study Biology and want to go straight to college in the USA so what are the exams/tests I need to give for that. Plus is it compulsory for me to do my Grade 11, Grade 12 in a USA high school? Also, what are some good colleges for me? And how will i obtain the following documents which are required for college admission.
1.School Report and high school transcript
2.Teacher Report (2)
3. Mid-Year School Report
4. Final School Report
If the system is similar to India, you need to complete Higher Secondary or Pre-University/Diploma Course (PUC/PDC) or Two year college (equivalent to 11th and 12th grade) before matriculating to an American University.
Go to educationusa.state.gov and contact an advising center in your country to get info on how to apply to US colleges from your country.
Hi @LuqmanMunri , although I can not help you out a lot regarding admissions but I can tell you what those documents are and where you can get them:
-
Your High school transcript is a document consisting your score details of the four years of high school (9,10,11&12). This can be inclusive of the 12th grade scores if you have done them or exclusive of those scores but with a list of subjects that you are taking in your final year. You can obtain this from either your school counsellor or you can request other respective authorities within your school to obtain it from the board.
-
The teacher reports refer to recommendation letter written by two of your instructors that detail your achievements as well as your character and conduct. You will need to request two or more instructors to write these for you. Either they will upload them on the university website themselves or you’ll have to send them in by mail, in this case, an official stamp of the school is required.
-
Mid year report includes your scores obtained in the first semester of your 12th Grade, likewise, the final report would entail your final scores at the end of the year, both can be requested from your school/college’s administration.
Lastly, let’s be real here, unless you have outstanding achievements (scores mostly) and have taken all the required courses that guarantee an early graduation, you need to pass 11th and 12th grade for your application to be considered as most universities require 12 years of education. Since you wish to pursue a biology degree, take up the pre-med stream. I’d also recommend taking Biology and Chemistry SAT Subject Tests (if the university you’re applying to requires them). You can take SAT to test yourself and try again a couple times to improve your scores for better chances at admissions!
Hopefully, this was helpful. Have a nice day and all the best for your future endeavours!
Do you need a scholarship to attend US colleges? If so, how much? How much can you afford? This is the most crucial factor for students wanting to study in US
