I recently found out that a relative of mine is monitoring me. He is not revealing his source but was hinting a few things. The weird thing is "he says its legal until I block my privacy" or something along those lines. He also said he had to pay money for this legal service. I am a permanent resident (green card holder) and told me that there might be a chance I find out how he was monitoring me once I get the American passport. He also said, this legal service covers several countries including USA, UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia etc. He also said that if I get hold of this service, I would be able to block his actions from monitoring me. Lastly, he said that Google wouldn't help me find out what this service is but then again, my Google skills aren't really out there.

Please don't think I'm being stupid - and maybe he is the one who is spying on me.. He lives more than a 12hour plane ride away from me.

He has detailed evidence of me doing things e.g. smoking such as videos or pictures. The amount of information he has on me is crazy and I have absolutely no idea how he could've obtained it.

I know this might be the wrong forum to post it in but I don't know where else to go. Please can someone help me out or redirect me to a forum/company/organization which can? I have no idea how he's doing this and I am in serious shock. Please help!

My Facebook profile already has EVERYONE on private even my closest friends. Even if I didn’t have anyone on private, the evidence he has isn’t found on facebook.

I don’t think you understand the situation. Is there any sort of legal footage that the public is allowed to obtain, like CCTV footage or satellite footage… I am so lost

this is ALL illegal. create a new facebook under an alias. that’s just weird. dump your email and any social media services you use. don’t even use facebook, use aim or msn or any messenger, and connect through TOR. i doubt he’s using a “service”, just knows your passwords. encrypt that ****.

The thing is even if he knew my password, he wouldn’t know this much stuff. There is a lot of things I don’t put on FB. The stuff he knows cannot be found anywhere on the internet because I don’t upload any of it.

He has video footages which are completely legal somehow and if I found out the service he is using, I can easily disallow him from viewing me at all times…

If OP is not just trolling us, then, no, there is no legal way for people to obtain video footage like he is describing. Even if he is not on US soil, whoever is taking this footage is, and if you can figure out who it is you can get the cops on them.

I’d check every corner of my house and under every bed every single night if I were you. How are you not shook?

****, he could be anywhere. Or the person he has watching you. Any cars in the street? Don’t look out, peek out.

Notice anyone following you lately? Watch the faces of people as they pass. Anyone watching you? Is it just a coincidence that the guy that bumped into you outside your driveway when he was jogging is the same guy you saw behind you in line at Subway?

Chances are, he hired a private investigator of some sort.

It is legal to film / take photographs from all public places, unless the target in question has a reasonable expectation of privacy (i.e. bedroom).

But then he could just be seen more easily…I’d keep the lights permanently off.

On a side note, this thread is kind of awesome, if true. Also, contact the police with whatever evidence you have so far managed to gather. Why is he even showing you that he has data on you? What’s it for? What are his motives? (Yay, “murder” mysteries.)

Well, I use to smoke pot in my home country and then I promised him I will never do it again. But when I went to UCLA, I did. Yes, I know, its my fault, I am guilty of what I did but still…

If I tell the cops I’m being spied on, why would they take me seriously?

Me: my relative who’s international is spying on me
Police: show me evidence
Me: I can’t because my relative wouldn’t give me any
Police: you are a waste of my time

Plus if they were to protect me in anyway, I would be the one going against the law for smoking and underage drinking.

And yes, the story is true. You guys have no idea how much shock I’m in. This is the stuff you see in movies… not even. I’m going back to UCLA in about a week and I do not feel safe whatsoever.

But he did have some incorrect information, like he thought I had a dealer but really it was a dispensary but regardless, he had videos/pictures. Its unreal. I’m completely lost and don’t know who to tell.

Ok. Even if this true, it’s creepy, but who cares?

For what it’s worth: a picture proves nothing. A cop isn’t going to arrest you off a picture that was given to them by some random dude. They can’t prove you’re smoking weed or actually drinking alcohol from a picture.

If this is true, just ignore it. Your cousin has too much time on his hands.

If someone does believe they are being spied on, they should cover up the lens on their laptop and put away their webcam. There have been cases where people were able to remotely turn them on (remember the Lower Merion high school student). Also, creeps like to hide hidden cameras inside stuffed animals and smoke detectors.

What does it matter that he is obtaining information about you? How can it hurt you?
If it is just disturbing to you, but not harmful, you could ignore it.
If it can hurt you, decide what it is worth to you to stop it. You can make your life a bit difficult and limit yourself to doing bad things only in closed rooms where no one can spy on you. Or you can hire your own private investigator for a lot of money to find the person who is taking the pictures and getting the information on you. That could lead to the company, which could lead to a stoppage.
