The term "race" is nothing but a social construct. Human civilization began in Africa!!! Let this statement resonate--please.

That idea is but a construct just as much as race is.

Stop posting NOW!!!!

:) Your post is :o a construct and reflects the  views of but one  person, thus it is  irrelevant and should :D and will be ignored. :p

Haha you guys, it's so obvious that Iamblack is joking. No self-respecting black person would have a screenname "Iamblack" or post that kind of stuff.

You're an idiot!! "Reflects the views of but one person">>>>>>you gotta be kidding me, kid! You are a priveliged "black" kid. I'm Puerto Rican, and my life has probably been harder than yours. I've never had something of value handed to me. I have to seize things for myself!! Now let that resonate!!

** Jim Bob-

it can't be obvious that I am joking because i am not. I am a self-respecting black person.

sroll2237- If you insult me like that again I will report you.

willtopower-

I am definitely not an idiot. I am not privledged. I am been discriminated against. I have had a hard life. I deserve to get into an Ivy League School.**

"I deserve to get into an Ivy League School". I understand that, I feel the same way about myself as well, but what you must understand is that you have created an image of your self --here on CC-- that is obnoxiously ridiculous. That is why people have been posting responses that are other than desirable. Do you undertand that?

Do you also understand that you should have said "I have been discriminated against". At least we know your intended major is not English.

Just because you've had a tough life doesn't mean you should be handed a spot to the Ivy Leage. You don't get into the Ivy Leage because you've had a tough time, you get into the Ivy Leage because you've worked hard. All of us have tough lives, you're not the first.

your going to report someone because of your half-assed post on how you attribute your failure in life to your race?
Good luck.

*league (got that one wrong)

11 pages of flaming. Gosh. Regardless whether he is using the system or not, with those stats, he has at least a decent shot at the schools (considering he is black of course).

I :eek:m bl:)ck and I :rolleyes:m b:)ck

And people ask me why I hate affirmative action...

People: Are you racist? Do you want to keep minorities out of college?

Me: No, the fact is that it is not as applicable as it could have been 30 years ago. Adversity is not limited to skin color. I know many white people that have faced more conflict and struggle in their lives than any minority I have met. Admission should be colorblind.

People: KKK member!

Me: Can you give me a reason why they should be given unfair treatment?

People: Yes, we have oppressed them for yea....

Me: So we have oppressed THESE individuals applying to college and kept educational resources from them?

People: Well, not these in particular. But....

Me: Their parents, even their parent's parents?

From now on, I will just reference them to this thread. More convincing than I could ever be. No minority should DESERVE an Ivy League education unless they can get in with statistics equal to that of any other Ivy competitive applicant.

See this is what I was worried about and why I was repulsed. Someone would read this thread and actually use it as a reference against AA...Iamblack more than likely isn't black...

That's because affirmative action based on race is silly. The general consensus on CC (from the hundreds of times this has been discussed) is that affirmative action based on economic factors is the only thing that really makes sense. However, this is virtually impossible to do because of need-blind admissions.

Wow, you deserve to get into an ivy league school because of your skin color? You are a sad, sick person. I hope you don't get into any ivy league schools at all.

you say you're not priveliged, but you said that your parents hired you private tutors to boost your grades and scores, I'd consider that priveliged. AA is truly meant for the black kids in the projects who are struggling to buy food, not spending money on private tutors.

You've been discriminated against, I'm sure you have, everyone has to some extent, i'm sure your life has been hard, but so has mine, what makes you any different. My mom died of cancer after battling it my entire high school career, is there an AA for people who lost parents during their senior year? Do I go to harvard because of it? no, I take my self earned scholarship to the flagship state university and I earn what I get.

its a joke... holy crap...
