It seems to have a great reputation in all fields without any apparent weaknesses. I am into engineering and I think the MIT “scene” is just not for me. PLUS THE WEATHER

Also, pigsatsea, please don’t take this as a knock, because I truly bid you congratulations and good will, but how did your admissions process turn out so well? Numerically you seem strong but so were many others on here who are now looking at state schools and such. Your ECs from what I could gather from your chance thread were decent but not outstanding. Do you think a bunch of it had to do with your state of residence and your essays? Few on CC seemed to do as well as you did.

MIT… it has unbelievable academics, plus an awesomely nerdy (but still well rounded) student body. The UROP looks really good too. As long as you’re doing math/engineering/science, MIT is the best.
Also, just… not Princeton. Those eating clubs look really, really weird.

There’s more factors to a college decision than just prestige. If that were the case, definitely MIT. But does anybody ACTUALLY enjoy life on the MIT campus? No. But the Princeton/Stanford people love their lives, classmates, and school. So choose b/w those. I guess this really comes down to a personal preference thing. From what I’ve seen online (and I’ve never visited either of these 2, so keep that in mind), I’d go Stanford over Princeton.

^No, MIT is not a well rounded education by any means.

There’s no question. I had a choice between Stanford and Princeton and picked Princeton. Retrospectively, I’m surprised that I even applied to Stanford at all.
