I am not a statistic: Pursuit to break 2100.

Update: I finished a few sections. I added up the weekly total for all three sections. Here’s the breakdown range: 1890-2120. M:600-660, CR: 610-670, W:680-790

Hey man!

Good work! I find it somewhat worrying that your scores on writing vary this much. Is it because you haven’t graded the essay section?

How’s your math coming along? Do you find that you’re making mistakes on the same kind of questions? Either questions testing the same concepts or those of the same difficulty level?

just reviewd mistakes in BB for 3 tests.
I figured that this is more important than Dr. Chung’s.

Unfortunately, I’ve really been struggling with writing lately. I missed 9 MC and made a 5 on yesterday’s essay. I don’t know what’s going on. I usually miss 0-2 MC at most, but I’ve been missing 5-9 lately. I think I’m over thinking questions or something. I’ll probably reread sparknotes 7 deadly errors and silverturtle’s guide again. I also need to work on my essay, which I Haven’t focused much on in a while. I’m going to do a few new practice sections and stuff and I’ll update later on today. Also, reading has been slightly improving. I’m still in the 610-670 range.

@Philovitist Can you link me to the list of words?

Never mind found it~

I went back and looked at the stuff that I missed. I figured out that idioms get me a lot on the writing section. I’m going to review that stuff after I do some prep. I’m going to do a few reading sections, the 2nd Gruber’s math test in the workbook, and a mach essay. I’ll post the essay on this thread if you guys want.

Update (1/2): Hey guys, I made another thread for the essays portion of the writing. If you guys have practice essays that you did for a test, want to critique or read essays, then check it out here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1395182-grade-give-constructive-criticism-essay-above-you.html

Update (2/2): I have 4 tests left out of the Bluebook. I’m planning on taking test number 10 tonight, and working on sections of 1 this week. This Saturday and Sunday will be mach practice tests. This means that I’ll wake up and get ready at 7:30 a.m. and try to simulate real test situations. I’ll update in a bit about the score breakdown for today’s practice. I took a Barron’s this morning and scored a 630/800. eh.

i know ive said this but i will say it again.
i hate how you cannot know your absolute scores towards the later parts of the BB tests. it’s extremely frustrating- of course I’d like to say that I’m at the higher end of the spectrum.

anyways…

I’m pondering whether or not I should sign up for 3 SAT 2 subject tests or the SAT 1 again in November. I’m worried that I won’t break 2000 in the next two weeks. :(

In a bit of a dilemma guys. Pondering whether or not I should buy the PWN the SAT book. Would you guys recommend the PWN the SAT book? It’s $30, which is pretty expensive, but I’ll buy it if it’s worth it. Has it helped you guys any in terms of score improvement?

@ Haphazard

If you feel you will not break 2000 in the next two weeks, I think it
is okay to consider doing the SAT I again in November. The only thing in this case is that you will have to apply RD to many schools, you must also have a form of mental guarantee that you will do well in the Subject Tests in December. As for “PWN the SAT”, if you do decide to do the SAT I again in November the book should be worth it.

Guys, I just ordered PWN the SAT with two day shipping and signed up for the November SAT! I’m nervous, but it is what it is now. I’m going to sign up for the SAT II subject tests tomorrow. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to apply to BU’s 7 year MD program, which I’ve wanted to do for a while now. I’m going to finish my homework and hit the books in a bit.

reviewing BB tests now…

Update: Bio, physics, Calc homework. Afterwards, I’m going to start going through the SAT CR Bible. I have yet to open up this book. Definitely more Direct Hits and mach essays today. If you guys want, I can post the essays on this thread and we can have our own grade/constructive criticism sessions.

Hi guys, I’m completely new to this site, and joined because I saw this thread. I too am a senior trying to bring my scores up by 100-200 points. So far, I’ve been focusing on a different topic each day, and hopefully that will help. It definitely helped when I took the practice tests and quizzes. I’m taking the SATs again in October. The most annoying part is the fact that I’m a good student, and it’s the little mistakes that get me on the test. Anyway, hopefully this will help me motivated, so thatnks for posting this!

I’m in the same ranges, sometimes I do a lot better though. I’m going to do some math today, and also some vocab later on. The writing section and the vocab section get me every time.

Update: won’t get to SAT prep tonight, 3rd consecutive night in a row, because I have to study for this stupid bio test that covers several chapters. The annoying part is that today my teacher expressed how ill she’s been feeling last couple of days to class. She basically said that if she shows up tomorrow, then we’d have the test. If she doesn’t show up, then she postpones the test a day or two. I’m finished with my rant. I’ll get back to studying lol.

Update: I’m sorry guys. I’ve been very, very busy lately. I had a few tests today and I have a few tests tomorrow. I think I’ll definitely be able to fit in some SAT prep today, as I’m not really worried about tomorrow’s tests. PWN the SAT just arrived in the mail! PWN the SAT will definitely compliment the other prep book I have, hopefully. I’m gonna take a 6 hour nap, and then I’ll get started on some SAT stuff. I may jack up my circadian rhythm even more by sleeping 8-9 hours and then prepping the rest of the night and morning until school starts.

Hey, you still asleep? Lol
