I am not a statistic: Pursuit to break 2100.

Medical boy, nah haha. I woke up like 3-4 hours ago. I’m almost finished studying for these tests. Starting SAT stuff in a bit.

Update: I read 44 pages of the SAT Critical Reading Bible and 27 pages of PWN the SAT. I practiced some Direct Hits vocab on Quizlet. I only read a total of 71 pages tonight, because my eyes feel strained. I haven’t been sleeping much the last few days and I don’t want to force myself to read stuff, which I won’t probably remember. I plan on hitting the books hard after school tomorrow. I’ll try to wake up a little bit earlier before school so I can do more reading. Also, I’ve already encountered several grammatical errors in the SAT Critical Reading Bible. The errors weren’t very detrimental though.the author was still able to get the point across.

I wouldn’t recommend cutting back on sleep to study so much. In my experience, it’s a lot easier to learn and retain information when your well rested…just my 2 cents

Update: I’m really loving this PWN the SAT book. I’m only like 62 pages in, but still. I’m going to try to go through this book tonight, and maybe start touching on the SAT Bible: Critical Reading. Tomorrow morning I’m going to take a mach test and I’ll try to match the environment as closely as possible. I’m going to take test 1 from the Blue Book. I’ll update later on tonight about how PWN the SAT is coming along.

Calling it a night. I read around 137 pages total tonight. I’ll try to wake up early tomorrow and continue working through the books. I’m definitely taking a practice test tomorrow. I’ll also try to start posting essays everyday.

I hope you don’t mind me posting my current report as well! Just trying to break 2000+!

Just finished my first practice test for the weekend. A little disappointed but happy I improved in CR.

CR: 650-730 (690-790 if I hadn’t made careless mistakes)
M: 550 - 630 (…)
W: 610-740 w/ 10 essay (670-800 if I hadn’t made careless mistakes, w/ 10 essay)

Score: 1810-2100 (or 1850-2220)

Update: PWN the SAT is really interesting so far. I’ve noticed that I make some of the harder questions more complex than they are. I’ve solved a few correctly, but I make the solution much longer, which is a time killer. I really need to improve on this. I’m taking a 15 min break, but then I’m back to prepping. I’m switching back and forth between PWN the SAT and the SAT Bible, so I don’t get too overwhelmed with one thing. I’m going to take a practice test in the evening sometime.

Update: Somewhat productive day. My goal was too ambitious. I couldn’t finish PWN the SAT today, but I’ll definitely try tomorrow. I’m planning I wake up early and take a full length test. I took two Math sections and one CR section. I missed 3 omit 1, 2, and 4 respectively. I read some more of the SAT bible. I’ll try to finish both books tomorrow. I didn’t do an essay today, but I really need to solidify my template and examples. The only way I’m going to remember the information about some of the other examples that I am unfamiliar with is to read the information over and over again till it becomes like second nature. I’ll post two essays tomorrow in return for not posting one today.

I’m hovering around 2090 on the two Kaplan tests I have taken. My math score has improved significantly. The one area that I still struggle in is Critical Reading since I haven’t been able to break 700 yet. Good luck Haphazard! May we surpass our goals next Saturday :)

So, I’m slowly losing hope now. Just finished another practice test and I did worse the second time around. I ALWAYS end up reading a problem or answer choice wrong… D:

CR: 630-710 (660-740 without careless errors)
M: 550-630 (again, no improvement)
W: 610-740 w/ 10 essay (AGAIN! grr. 670-800 w/10 essay if it weren’t for careless errors)

Ugh, I hate feeling discouraged like this.

@HelloParis- There’s still a week! Giving up hope is truly a hefty price to pay over just one score. Remember that you will be more focused during the test! Keep at it, you CAN make it to where you need to be by the test.

still struggling on the higher numbered math problems–usually leave them blank.

I’m in the high 600’s to medium 700 for score ranges, but my wr is pretty high…
dang i hate score ranges.
at least hoping to toucch 2100…
this sat

It’s nice to see other people in the same boat I am. I took the SAT in May and scored a 1660 (530 M, 540 CR, 590 W). My main issue is the time limit, so I decided to take a practice SAT with no time limit and scored around a 2000 (620 M, 650 CR, 740 W). 8 practice tests later using a time limit, and I’ve now been consistently scoring around the 1750-1850 mark. My goal is to break 1800. Only a week left!

Been doing lots of SAT stuff lately. Couple writing and math sections on Barron’s. I hear Barron’s is a bit harder than the actual test so I’m happy because I did fairly well. Hoping to keep this up! Taking the SAT’s in November or December so I got some time on my hands.

Update: I had to run errands with my dad this morning. Unfortunately, no morning test for me this morning. I got back around an hour and half ago and started with PWN the SAT. I’m about half way through with it and around 1/3 through with SAT CR Bible. I think I’m going to take a few sections from the blue book after dinner and then get back to reading back and forth between the two guides. I’ll definitely donate time to the writing section. Eventually.

Just took a practice test (#6 in the blue book)

Math: 760
Writing: 710
Reading: 600 (ouch)

Total: 2070

I broke 2000 but disappointed with writing because I know I can do better.

Better start working extra hard on reading. Any tips?

Hello, i actually started studying for SAT today for first time less than a week before my final SAT test ( I know very stupid, i wish i could rewind past lol). I found this site when i was googling random SAT stuff and made account just to get on this thread. I took the SAT twice before and since i am a senior this weekend will be the last time i take the SAT. I want to get into any IVY league or JHU ideally, for pre med. I got an 1890 first time, W -550 R-630 M-710. Second time i got 2000 W-620 R-630 and M-750. Do you guys have any tips for me to improve in reading or writing, fast working that will help me in 5 days. My goal is to improve in writing and reading and try to hit or pass 700 in each and i would be surprised and disapointed with anything less than 800 in math.
Thanks in anticipation, I hope we all manage to achieve our goals!

P.S. I get 7 or 8 on my essays, have any tips to do a few points better?

Today is sort of my “break” day from the SAT. I have to study for my AP Gov test tomorrow so I’m not taking a practice test today. I just completed all of the most recent SAT Questions of the Day on the CB website, and I got all of them correct!

Tonight, before I go to bed, I plan on reviewing my vocab from the SAT Critical Reading Bible (I was SO happy to see the words impugned and repudiated on my last practice test… I actually knew those words!) and I might review my old math problem mistakes from past practice tests if I have time.

Tomorrow, since I have a free period, I’ll be attempting to take half of a practice test. (I’m slowly running out of practice tests to take and I need to save one to take on Friday… must ration haha!)

Hahaha I had AP Gov last year. I disliked it for various reasons. I mostly disliked it because I’m not much of a social science person. I just finished a math test that I pulled from test 10 from the blue book. I scored a 630. I omitted a lot of questions that I should’ve at least answered since I narrowed most of the choices down to two. I have Calc and physics stuff to do, but I think I’m going to hold off for a bit and continue to do some SAT stuff because I doubt I’ll have any time tomorrow during school.

Naavedownz, read “how to write a 12 essay in 10 days” by academic hacker. It should be here somewhere on the forums.

@midosin I just saw your post, thanks for the encouragement! It’s what I need at the moment!

@Haphazard I just dislike my AP Gov teacher. He’s so picky and fastidious (SAT word right there :P) I now have to cram a bunch of chapter readings tonight, bleh.
