Sadly, I won’t finish all of Gruber’s today. There are still topics that I appear weak in. I need to review this more extensively. I really need to work on writing as well. I haven’t done much writing practice, if any.

Hey Haphazard,

Is it cool with you if I post about my SAT prepping here too? Aiming for >2100 too and taking it next month!

My highest CR score on practice tests (BB) was 720 and after that, 700. I took one on Kaplan after those and it was a huge fail. Missed a lot of questions on the two sections. I’m considering not using Kaplan again for CR. The questions are harder not because they’ve been designed to be so but because the questions and answers are often poorly worded. My scores for CR are in the 600s, usually.

After those two CR sections yesterday, I went to review some math (geometry - forgot loads of stuff here; been so long since I did those topics) and proceeded to take 2 sections of the first test on BB. Did well on the first section, missing only two questions but missed ~6 on the next.

Today, I will attempt the last section. Then, I will try to re-do all the questions I had gotten wrong. On that note, we should all give them another go without looking at the solutions - helps a lot.

Next up is reviewing some physics for the SAT II. It’s been about a month since I last did any work…so I’m gonna have to go over the chapters I had done previously before moving on.

After that, I’ll try a second BB test for math.

If I still have some energy left in me, I’ll attack the CR section for a BB test.

I’ll post back tonight with a follow-up. (there’s hoping I manage to do it all)

I also haven’t tried the writing section since last April. Was a gigantic f-up!

Wow sombre, you’re a tank lol. I need to learn how to manage everything. School work and EC’s leave me with little to no time to prep. Anyways, tomorrow I will be doing some stuff after school. The “stuff” will be later clarified after I find out what all I have for homework. I need to order SAT 2 subject prep books and sign up for tests soon; I’m not sure what tests I want to take haha. I’m definitely taking Bio M. I’m contemplating between Math 1 and Math 2. I may take a third test, which I haven’t decided what subject. Any suggestions anyone?

@ haphazard, that helped a lot actually, thanks a bunch.
I’m deciding against dropping it- first of all my counselor told me that Snr year with no science/math is realllllly detrimental to your college application. (im also taking ap english, but other than that i’m pretty free)

Could you further explain the “Finding the one with the highest exponent” to divide everything by it? I remember that one time if the numerator’s highest exponent = the denominator’s highest exponent you cancel the exponents out and divide the numbers by it out to get something??? Need some clarification…
besides that, any other help with infinity limits…OH YEAH. ASYMPTOTES FROM THE FUNCTIONS…

thanks. off to some kap math now. ttyl

just finished my 1 practice test from kaplan. feel good. time for some ap calculus- test thurs

Nah, not really. I’m on a gap year. My main extracurricular activities, while time consuming and very important (to me), aren’t daily commitments as of right now, which leaves me with a fair bit of time on my hands.

Figure out the optimal amount of time you can work in one go. For me, that’s about 30 minutes when learning new material - I have a short attention span. For problem sets, I can go longer but only if they’re hard problems. Otherwise, I get angry. I gotta work on that.

Everybody’s different, so take the time to figure out your best “optimal chunk of study time”. Then work in chunks. Schedule specific tasks in these time slots. Try not to plan too far ahead because everything probably won’t go according to plan. And voila. That’s all it takes. Chunks!

Apparently, it’s easier to get an 800 on Math II.

I’m taking that, physics and maybe chemistry. If I get better at CR-type questions, I’ll consider taking Lit as well.

For what it’s worth, I think scoring above 2000 but having a GPA that’s >3.75 is a better position for one to be than scoring >2200 but having a GPA that’s <3.5. Screams laziness or boredom or/and other stuff that’s not “consistency in studies”. And you don’t want that when applying to college. Trust me. That’s where I am. And it sucks over here!

Love this thread. Really great to keep track of what I’m learning. I’ll come back in a few hours with my report.

I just got home. I have a lot of homework to do; I also have to study for a few tests. Penguin, I have a test in ap Calc this Friday over the entire differentiation chapter, which is quite scary. Today, I think I may continue to work through Gruber’s and read more direct hits.

You can DO IT HAPHAZARD.

Thanks IceQube! I posted on your chance thread by the way. The 2300 in the a single sitting is very impressive.

haphazard can you reply to my post its on p 11, haha…

starting 1 kaplan test now. gl all (calc test tmrw too)

update: finished 1 Kap test.
time for AP Calc studyin… wish me luck, y’all.

Sorry about that penguin. It slipped my mind. Well, for asymptotes: vertical - don’t worry about numerator and set denominator to zero. Solve for x.
Horizontal- Look at highest power in numerator and denominator. If both are the same power, then the fraction of the coefficient is the horizontal asymptote. I.e. (2x^2-5)/(x^2+3). The horizontal asymptote is 2/1, or just 2.

I’ll try to clarify the infinity limits thing later. School is about to start!

I’m also fairly certain that you don’t need to find oblique/slant asymptotes. Correct me if I’m wrong, and I’ll explain how to find slant/oblique asymptotes during break or something.

took my test. i think that i did significantly better due to patJMT vids on youtube. i love technology. have a great day everyone.

Yeah, sorry about that. I got home pretty late. I have a Calc test Friday, and I’m pretty nervous. I watch patrickJMT from time-to-time. Patrick is great at explaining some of the most complicating things.

just got back. overall, it was a good day.
Got to finish colleges so I can start the supplements.

but first, kap math.

Most likely won’t get to any SAT prep tonight. I have an AP Calc and AP Bio test tomorrow. The Calc test is very important, so I’ll be spending 90% of my time studying for the test.

Yeah, the Cal test was crazy. I am skeptical of two of my answers. I hopefully only missed one, which would put at a 90. Anyways, just got home. I have an AP Bio project to do, but I’m gonna read some DH and Gruber’s. I’m gonna do a few sections of Barron’s and Dr. Chung’s today.

Doing a couple more words, hit past the 200 mark! Taking it very slow right now, will definitely speed things up now. Planning to do 2 math sections and 2 CR sections tomorrow, hope it doesn’t go too bad! Will post how I did once I’m done

Almost done with Gruber’s! I have to do some stuff tomorrow, so I’ll be home later on in the day. I’ll post my section scores and stuff tomorrow.
