I am on wait list for 4 school.

THANKS tiger_max22 :O)....ur a budd lols

&& cdnhockey92 -> i recommend middlesex....we went to visit and have an interview there, and there was such a close atmosphere....it felt like a very large, but especially comfortable family ^_^

MX is about twice as good as SMS! SMS is a joke compared to MX!

yea
St. Paul's School located in Concord, NH

like, i wanna go 2 SPS cuz they like me more than hotchkiss (hence my acceptance opposed to the waiting list placement) but like, i'm rly confused as to which place to go if i get in

I agree with jg0339:
It is always dangerous to generalize based on a few opinoins. It is like sterotype. Of course, MS has pros and cons. But it is a very good school. That does not mean that St. Mark's is not a good school. St Mark's is a very good school, too. Let's not argue about one school is better then the other. That is a silly point.

Venevolent4them!
It is a wild comment! :MX is about twice as good as SMS! SMS is a joke compared to MX!
Just like you want your school to be respected, you should respect other's as well. I am not a a huge fan of MX and SMS. I personally think MX is a bit better than SMS, but not a whole lot. 2X times better and joke! That is a nonsense!
I am sure there are many people out there who like SMS better because SMS has its own tradition and color, it has more endowment than MX, and for many other reason. If somebody say that Exeter is at least twice as good as MX! MX is a joke compared to Exeter, then how would you feel?

We should be careful obout our mouth in this forum to make it better and informative. I would say that both MX and SMS are great schools and they really are. If you have two choices, you should revist and decide your school with your parents considering the school program and environment based on your college and future plan. Every school has pros and cons. Even in Exter and Andover, there are many students who do not go to top colleges while there are many students who go to top colleges from other BS.

We have to remember that high school education especially, BS education is not just for college. We have to think about why we are considering BS.

Good post fslzcl! What is perfect for one student may not work for another.
Deciding between schools isn't a matter of selecting only on dubious rankings and statistics. There are many aspects consider.

After all the parsing of information, some decisions are going to come down to intangibles; quality of life, is the campus appealing to you, a matter of fit (or wanting something completely different) and feeling at home (after all, for the next few years, you are going to be spending more time with classmates & faculty than with your family).

I'm sure there are many other considerations (got to get back to work!)

fslzcl's post has the right point. I agree that Middlesex is a good school and Saint Mark's school is also a very good comparable school to that. I know one of my neighbor got admitted to MIT this year from Saint Mark's. She and her parent are so proud of Saint Mark's. I am planning to apply to both Saint Mark's and Middlesex this year. Please wish me a good luck! I will keep coming to this forum from now on. This forum has lots of information. Thank you so much for all the info. They will really help me prepare for my application. Thank you all.

Mehkins - you should obviously go to SPS if that's the only place you were accepted. It's almost impossible (from my experience) to get off a WL if you don't show extra effort. And I don't think you should, because you were accepted to one school. Don't bet on getting off the WL.

kay kay, i'll go to sps
its HOTCHKISS AND DEERFIELD'S fault for not accepting me in the first place, they don't know what they r missing
looll

Well, I got my results today… I have gotten into the Wait List for The Hotchkiss School and Deerfield Academy, and was rejected by Phillips Exeter Academy, Phillips Andover Academy, and Choate Rosemary Hall. I just feel sad, and I wish now that I practiced and drilled myself on the SSAT 1 more minute, or revised and reread my essay one more time. I’m going to stay on both Wait Lists, and they’re both my dream schools. All I can do now is pray and wait, but I’m almost out of hope. I really wish I can do something, instead of just waiting and waiting for the decision between victory or defeat. Well, good luck to everyone on getting into their dream schools.

YOU should appreciate getting even into st. mark atleast you got in somewhere stop complaining, dont make it out like that school is inferior

waitlisted on deerfield 2!
god, their waitlist must be massive.

D also waitlisted at 3—Exeter, Andover, Choate…it’s so frustrating, but accepted at Hotckiss. Not the first choice, but considering how soo competitive the admission rate is this year—getting into ANY school is a blessing!

“…but considering how soo competitive the admission rate is this year—getting into ANY school is a blessing!”

That is so true. Many many qualified and deserving students did not get accepted into any of the schools they applied to this year! The schools referred to on this thread, and the vast majority on this forum, are all first rate - choosing to stay on a waitlist when one has an acceptance to another great school - well, hmm. Doesn’t seem “sporting”. Of course there are going to be exceptions, but I would just hope that kids dont stay on a waitlist for no real good reason.

My daughter got into Lawrenceville, Lawrence, NMH, and Mercersburg. She is waitlisted for Deerfield. It is going to be a hard decision on the revisit days.

Congratulations Izientek. Those are all good schools. My daughter goes to Mercersburg. If you have any questions, just ask. I am sure there are other parents that can help you with the other schools.

I was wait-listed for Deerfield and Choate!

kamaloe, last year, several schools WL’ed my son, including his preferred BS ¶ and mine (SPS). Fortunately, several schools offered him enrollment. Among these schools was Hotchkiss. Although Hotchkiss was not our top BS pick, we were quite pleased with the offer. In time, we accepted.

My son now attends THS. As we now look back on the app process, we only have two major questions: One, why didn’t we rank Hotchkiss as our top choice from the first day we started the application process? And, two, how in the world could my son have been so incredibly lucky to have received an offer to attend Hotchkiss?

THS has, in every way possible, exceeded by leaps and bounds our highest hopes, dreams and expectations for a BS. It is a truly remarkabke place.

If you have any questions or concerns about Hotchkiss, please fell free to get in touch with me at your convenience. I will be more that happy to talk you, parent to parent, about this extraordinary school. If your child would like to talk to a student about THS, I highly recommend that she contact kafkareborn, who reports often on CC about Hotchkiss.

Congratulations on your child’s good fortune.

I got wailisted at 8 schools!
Middlesex, Cate, Deerfield, Berkshire, St George’s, Groton, Hotchkiss, Andover
I was upset a lil bit, but now I find it kind of funny. God must love to play the luck game with me :D

i got rejected from exeter and choate (my dream skool) and I got waitlisted at Hotchkiss, Deerfield, Peddie, and Episcopal and no acceptances. I’m going to send them some of my poetry and other good stuff to give me a chance of getting off the lists. it sux even more cuz i was waitlisted at choate and hotchkiss last year and i was hoping for an improvement. i guess it’s cuz of my grades though. I’m gonna try to get my grades higher than they were when i originally sent them to give myself a better chance.

i got waitlisted at five schools.
FIVE. but i don’t care that much… atleast i got into my first choice.
wl: andover, groton, choate, loomis, and deerfield
