Hi guys , so the assignment is as you all know :
Although you may not yet know what you want to major in, which department or program at MIT appeals to you and why? (*) (100 words or fewer)

Should i talk about WHY ENGINEERING : why I love it and all!
OR Should i talk about why engineering in MIT :about the education, UROP and all!
Or should i talk about the most appealing degree(which is the 16-ENG so far) and talk about MIT's aeronautics department: education, opportunity and all!
PLZ help, I am running out of time and still have like 10 essay to write for other colleges!!
Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Besides i am not even sure about aeronautics ; the only thing i am sure about is that i love engineering and mit is the best place where to major in engineering !!

The “Which department” question isn’t asking you to tell them how awesome MIT is. MIT admissions officers know how awesome MIT is. The question is asking you why you love it! What excites you about engineering, what stood out on the department’s website, and why are you so interested in it?

I’ll give you an idea of a possible response is, but please, do not copy this, because MIT admissions will probably recognize it and then your app could be instantly denied:

“While sifting through endless college websites, MIT’s ChemE page actually
made me lean forward off my pillow (yes, I research college in bed) and crack
a grin. It’s a gorgeous combination of three of my nerdy interests: math,
chemistry, and physics. One of my friends dubbed them “The Trifecta” because
they’re the three coolest classes to take simultaneously. The theoretical
aspect is fascinating (how do you describe the universe?!), but I’m even more
psyched to learn their practical applications and develop brand-new green
energy technology. MIT has groundbreaking research going on, and I’m aching
to get into a lab.”

The application is about you. Talk about what excites you. I would think you don’t even have to be specific about which branch of engineering, unless one excites you more than another.
