So I’m in the middle of the college application process, meaning I have turned in basically everything besides scholarship applications and I am waiting for responses to the three colleges I haven’t got decisions from yet. Recently, I came across a college that really interests me, Pepperdine University. It’s not anywhere close a sure thing, but I am thinking about considering transferring after a year of whatever college I will attend. Honestly, I might love it at whatever college I go to, but just in case should I have a college as a backup plan? What are some things I should know/think about?
If you are uncertain enough about your current college list so as to think that a place that isn’t on it might be better for you, spend some time considering the option of taking a Gap Year. That would give you a chance to revisit everything.
Things to consider:
Will you need aid, and does Pepperdine give that kind of aid to transfers?
What, exactly, does Pepperdine offer that none of the places on your current list offer?
What is a typical freshman courseload like at Pepperdine, and do they expect transfers to arrive with those requirements completed?
Look into going to community college, too, if you are unsure and see what your chances of transferring in are. Explore all options before making a decision
