I applied as a transfer student for SEAS computer science major

Hello, I am about to explain my situation now. I now finished my second year of college. I started my first year in different college and, after one year, I transferred out to different college, which I am attending right now, for some reason. After consulting with counselor and family, I decided to change my major to computer science, but unfortunately, current school doesn't offer degree in computer science. Due to that reason I applied for GWU SEAS for computer science major for Fall 2014. In the first college I got around 3.0 GPA and in the second college I got 2.83. And I took summer class in community college, the grade I received was A. I submitted everything in and a good personal essay and am still waiting for acceptance decision. My SAT score was: Math 700, Reading 540, Writing 600. What would my chance for getting into GWU SEAS for computer science major be? And I am not applying for any financial aid.

Depending on the classes you took, your GPA is quite low. What kind of classes? Difficult science and math classes with that GPA might be overlooked, but unlikely.

In the end, it comes down to the luck-of-the-draw. GW traditionally accepts only 30% of transfer applicants, so as long as you can beat out 70% you have a chance. Maybe focus on things outside your GPA that make you marketable. You say you wouldn’t apply for financial aid? If you or your family is footing the full bill, your chances actually increase.

Good luck!
