I've been checking up the websites for several well-known i-banks (Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Bear Stearns, Lehman Bros., etc...) and it seems like none of them have campus recruiting events scheduled at Chicago (though many have at GSB)...does that mean that they don't recruit at Chicago (or that they put Chicago students lower than kids at other schools), or that they simply figure that any Chicago undergrads will go to the GSB events (which has me thinking, since both Wharton grad and undergrad have separate events; also, grad school events are different, i.e., no internships)?

Trust me, they recruit.

keelee, do you have anything more to add about I-Bank recruiting? I plan on going into that for a couple of years after college and I want to know whether I'm more likely to be recruited by a top firm coming out of Chicago or Columbia.

indytucker, whether you are more likely to be recruited out of Chicago or Columbia depends far more on what you take, how well you do, and what contacts you develop than on where you went.

At some point, this effort to find the "best" becomes an exercise in hair splitting, with the answer decending into the noise of life.

Pick the one you like.

That depends on you, and nothing else. The school doesn't matter in this case. They are of the same caliber. You do have a slight edge at uChicago, however, if you go for an Econ degree.
