congrats! the psych department here is really helpful and the professors are pretty awesome.

@BPkid101

Lol, I was in a similar situation as you too, but I unfortunately wasn’t able to get academic renewal (so I had to make up the difference, the hard way). It’s good to see a fellow academic reformer get into Cal :)

@ NCB: haha psych majors ftw! Stanford Prison Style indeed haha. I’d be down for recreating such an experiment :p. See you at Cal!

@ Bpkid101 and Dango: I also head a rocky start at my CCC (1.0 GPA), and omitted the grades with Academic Renewal. Reformed psych majors ftw! lol.

@ BPkid101: I registered as a visiting student back in February. lol my passion for Cal has always been there. I can switch my status from visiting to current student, though, after I submit my SIR. I’ve called and verified this. You just go to the UCB summer session website, Register, and then pick out your classes.

Your final schedule should be e-mailed in 2 weeks. I’m registered for 2 courses and it cost me 2300$. I’ll be dropping one that I don’t need though.

Anyway, definitely sign up! :)

@ vintij: I completely agree with you. UCB should just have everyone apply for L&S considering that is how they admit you. At least UCLA is more stringent in only allowing those that apply for impacted majors to be considered for the impacted majors.

It’s very strange (imo) that Berkeley permits the switch, but all-in-all I’m quite happy with it. I want to study psychology, so this was ideal for me.

@ sakurax: Thank you so much! You are the best! lol btw did I talk to you yesterday on the phone? I was called by a girl asking me about if I was going to enroll at UCB :D. Thank you again for everything!

Btw will you be at the Research Presentation for Psych at UCB on May 8th? I may go to that in the afternoon.

^ Well it makes sense to specify a major on your app because you still have to have the prerequisites done or in progress your first semester at Cal when you declare. They have to make sure that you’re on at least one track for a major and can graduate in 4-5 semesters :)

@ Tessa: Ahh that does make sense. You’re right; I hadn’t considered the prerequisites in that situation. Thanks :).
