I can't seem to find a college that I like.. any suggestions?

Hi.

I've finished my first four college visits, and I must say that I wasn't impressed with any of the places I've visited. I'm currently a junior living in Mankato, Minnesota. I'm looking for a reputable Business school, preferably at a university with 20,000+ students in a good college town with a good social life,a nice campus, and not to mention a solid academic reputation. I'm not looking for an insane party school, nonetheless I DO want a good and enjoyable environment. I don't want to venture more more than roughly 3-4 states away from Minnesota, and I'd like to avoid the east coast at all costs.

So far, I've visited Minnesota State University-Mankato, Southwest Minnesota State University, Normandale Commmunity College and Bethel University. I did not like any of these; they were all too small and while are no doubt excellent, really don't have the reputation or EXCITEMENT I'm seeking!

Anyways..

I have a 3.661 unweighted GPA, 3.720 weighted, and I'm not expecting that to change a ton. I never took any AP Classes or Honors Classes until this year, but this year alone, I'm taking AP English, AP Chemistry, AP Statistics, AP U.S. History, AP Psychology, AP Environmental Science, Honors Spanish 4, and A+ Certification. Next year I'm taking AP Physics B, AP Calculus AB, AP English, AP Microeconomics, AP Government, and AP Spanish. I got a 3.92 first semester! I got a 27 on my ACT both times, and I'm not taking it any more. I rank 42/334 in my class.

I'm a three sport athlete and am a captain of our baseball team. I work at Dairy Queen, roughly 15 hours per week. I'm in NHS also.

Let's try to stay under $40k a year, for total costs.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a ton in advance.

Try some flagship universities -U of Michigan, U of Wisconsin, U of Iowa, Mizzou, and U of Illinois might pique your interest.

You should definitely consider UMN-Twin Cities, UW-Madison, UIUC (business school is a reach but you’d probably get into the university), and IUB!!

You might want to look at some schools that participate in the Midwest Student Exchange to keep costs down. [MHEC : MSEP Description (328)](http://www.mhec.org/MSEPDescription) OOS tuition costs at a public U are limited to 150% of in-state students.

U of Kansas, Indiana U., U of Iowa, Michigan State, U of Nebraska.

You just described IU to the letter.

3.8 GPA + 30 ACT = $9,000/yr :)

A lot of the flagships mentioned in the previous posts are good suggestions. I’ve lived in some of those college towns. Both Madison (WI) and Columbia (Mizzou) are good college towns, nice campuses. As a 3-sport athlete you would probably like Mizzou’s very impressive student recreation facilities. I don’t think Mizzou has any automatic reciprocity agreements with MN, but even OOS should come in well under 40K.
