i cheated

u must go to a bs school if you can get straight A's...and then need to cheat on a test, by stealing the test and keeping on your desk (in my opinion, the most retarded way to cheat possible)

What epsilon said.

Wait, does this show up in your record?

keep on your desk, haha

i think everyone has cheated in their lifetime as a student, don't deny it. your eyes tend to "shift"

but seriously, having the test out near you WHILE taking that test is pathetic

Does this show up on your record?

everyone just chill out. the kid has already had the discussion with the administration. easy with the accusations, and i think 17 pages worth of suggestions is enough advice for a case that isn't very rare.

umm i said, "test OUT OF this boring class"

the test was in my binder (for studying) which was closed, laying on top of my desk

Here's a story from someone who also got caught cheating and everything turned out fine.

My highschool was so top heavy - 15 people graduated with a 4.0. The difference between a 94 and a 98 on a test was huge when it came to class rank. Cheating was also rampant, and I was one of those guys that told cheater-friends that they would get theirs someday.

Then, one day my Sophomore year, my Latin teacher announces that there would be a test the next day on just vocab - he would give 50 english words and we had to give their latin equivalents. He had given no hints that a test was coming up. That day I had practice from 3 to 6, and didn't end up getting home until 8 due to traffic, and I passed out in my bed with my book on my chest at around 9. I thought it was terribly unfair not to have consideration for people like me who wouldn't have time to really study.

So what did I do the next day? I looked at my friends paper next to me, the funny thing was I had a 90 on the test at that point, but wanted so so bad to get that 100. He caught me and told me to "keep the test," that is, never hand it in. My options were either to talk to him about it, and apologize and maybe maybe be allowed to take a retest where the highest grade you could get was a 60, which he was known to do for some of the cheaters, or not do anything and get a big fat zero.

Maybe it was because of pride, or because I wanted to accept my punishment and move on, but I didn't go to him and took a zero on the test. I then proceeded to get a 100 on every test for the rest of the year, including his notorious final, and still finished with an A in the class. And it wasn't easy. My quarter numerical grades were like 96 97 87 99

Moral of the story is own up and take the punishment, then work as hard as you can to prove to your teachers, your principal, your parents, and most importantly YOURSELF that you're better than cheating. By the way, that same teacher also wrote the recommendation that helped get me into an Ivy League school, after I had him again for Latin in Jr. year and proved to him that I was better than cheating.

seriously cheating sucks but whatever we ALL have done it at some time - if you don't man that sucks for you! don't worry about it. it isn't the end of the world. learn your lesson as we all do, and hopefully the results won't be too bad against you. good luck

y would u steal it urself?

you have to ask others to steal it...

erato, I know you have a lot of people attacking, trying to help, or make fun of you, but I'm curious: what did you end up doing?

lol, I never cheated during high school but I still got good grades. If I were you I'd confess immediately, just to let the burden disappear.

I don't know you personally but I have a feeling you're getting exactly what you deserve.

That said, if I were in your position, I would apologize and beg for forgiveness.

Wow.... CC is really full of hypocrites... thats all I can say. Looking through this post i see everybody acting like they have high moral standards and never cheated. "you get what u deserve", cheaters never prosper, etc." Come on guys, its not like CCers never asked anybody for illegitimate help. I see these forums ridden with posts like " I'll pay 20$ for an old AP test because my teacher is giving us a midterm that is an old AP test." Have you guys even asked somebody how a test is before you've taken it? That in itself is a form of cheating itself. The only difference is that he got caught, and the majority of these hypocrite CCers didnt.
As for dealing with the situation, the past is the past and I would just be honest if I were you.

Alot - if not all - of people have cheated - and were smart enough not to get caught. But most of them learned from their mistakes and thus say stuff like: "cheaters never prosper." because they've been through that and know that it's true.
But that doesn't mean that there aren't still a few hypocrites out there.

cheating is alright. what everybody says in the world is junk. it is nothing to be ashamed of. it is only a risk that you might as well recognize, that is all. so take that risk when you most need. when you think it would be the best chance to cheat in your life, do it. I'd tell you not to do it if you had a small bit of courage to regret yourself later. so think over of the reason you had to cheat this time. use that idea for your future. don't judge someone for being immoral because you cannot judge that immorality is incorrect.

What wonderful thoughts . . .

and pretty good for your first post on this forum.

As the maitre d in Ferris Bueller's Day Off said, "I weep for the future."
