I chopped off a foot of my hair to become a 7-year-old-boy.

I hate to keep exploiting my accomplishments in drama for college applications. Don't get me wrong --- I don't do drama for the sake of applications at all... It's just that I'm just so clueless as to what would look "good" on the college resume. =P

Anyway, I used to have relatively long hair -- well below my shoulders. I was honored with a big role in the play, Pinocchio. Well, my hair was a bit too long and a bit too girly for that role. So, my drama coach requested that I cut my hair like a boy's to look more like Pinocchio. I said "Yes" after very little thinking. =]

The next day at school, when people asked me why I cut my hair, I responded with, "for the play!" :-)

And they'd shout, "Wow! What devotion!"... etc, etc.

And that sort of got me thinking:

Is this something worth mentioning on the college applications. Is this anything big at all? Or do people do this sort of stuff all the time? Could I write an essay about this, or would it be way too trivial? I mean... I wasn't torn over cutting my hair or anything. It wasn't TOO difficult of a decision...

It might be viewed as impulsive.

im assuming your a junior as you still can write essays. i think you could try to write an essay about it before college applications begin and see if it works out. essays don't all have too be about "deep" things. my friend wrote an AMAZING essay about getting lost, and didn't write anything particularly meaningful in it. she got into a few top 25 schools using it.

just try writing on different topics and later in the process try to develop the ones that you like best

did you give your hair to locks of love? that would be nice

I second nickel. It seems like a potentially fun essay topic, but hey, there is a vast supply of fun essay topics in the life of a drama kid... :D You'll come up with something. Obviously this makes for an essay, not something you'll put on your list of ECs: "Cut hair for drama role, 1 hr/week, 1 wk/yr." ;)

Your short hair looks really cute, by the way. :)

You're adorable! :D

I third nickel :) This would make for a great essay. Start writing it, NOW! You'll thank yourself this fall ;)

Cutting hair is a pretty temporary sacrifice. I agree with nickel in that it would make for some good essay fodder, but, you know, don't base the entire essay solely on you cutting your hair.

haha, regardless, the hair cut looks awesome on you.

I think it'd make a great essay, if you swung it the right way.

I love girls who chop all their hair off. Heck, I love chopping off all my hair. (I cannoooot wait to after prom!) And I hope you did donate it, because that much hair could do a lot of good. (: And btw you look great.. not a lot of people can pull off Peter Pan! Kudos for doing it for a role (:

Turn it into an essay indeed! But make sure it tells them something about you (:

She said Pinocchio, not Peter Pan.

Really is quite a lot of devotion. If I looked that pretty (and if I were a girl) I'd never let anyone cut my hair from that to that.

I'd write about it if I did, though.

Oops.. Pinocchio*

My friends and I did the cast of Peter Pan for Halloween and I really wanted one of my friends to chop off all her hair to be Peter, so I might just be thinking about that, hahah

Just substitute the word "Pinocchio" in.. same point
