I Havent visited either campus but i'm going by what my teachers have told me. Im not sure that i made the right choice but the schools are really far and geneseo is further.. I heard geneseo has a better campus. Im really Anxious. I am about to send them the acceptance by mail.. Im really really nervous. IDK what to do. If anyone thinks i made the wrong decision just write to me. Please =/

You PROBABLY should visit the campuses. Even an hour or two walking around will give you an idea what it’s like.

It also depends on a lot of things… your major, financial aid, etc.

the only criteria you mention is the campus so its really hard to say if you’ve made the right decision or not. i assume your teachers discussed other criteria such as strength of program you might be interested in?
“better campus” depends on what you want in a campus. geneseo’s is on a hill, binghamton’s is larger but not too large. they’ve both had construction in recent years in adding new buildings to the old red brick typical SUNY ones.
it is normal to be nervous about a big decision. it is also normal to relax once you’ve made it and settle in to prepare for the school you chose.

If it’s any consolation, a girl I know visited Geneseo recently and really did not like it.

one of my good friends just visited geneseo and loved it. it’s not wise to choose a school without visiting.

Don’t worry yourself sick over this. They are both good schools—different from each other but both academically sound. Try not to second guess yourself. The worst case scenario is that after a few months you may decide that the fit isn’t right and you transfer. The best case scenario and the most likely scenario is that love it and can’t imagine yourself at any other school. My advice to you is to let yourself fall in love with the idea of being a member of the Binghamton Class of 2013. Enjoy your acceptance and give yourself a big pat on the back.

I really think you should go to the campuses this weekend. Your deposit is not due until May 1, so you do have this one last weekend. I am guessing you might live on Long Island (as do I) since you said the campuses were far, but last weekend we drove to Binghamton. There will be campus tours this Saturday at 10:00 and 1:00. If you do not see one of those tours on the calendar that means it is sold out, but that doesn’t matter, go anyway, they will let you take the tour (that’s what we did last weekend). Since you are leaning toward Binghamton, here could be your plan (this is assuming you live in either Long Island, NYC, or Westchester) - drive to Binghamton (4 hours if you live mid-Suffolk county, less if NYC etc. If you like it and this confirms your choice, then go home. If for some reason you decide you’re not crazy about it and need to see Geneseo, then continue on up there Saturday or Sunday, and see campus on Sunday (probably no tours though).

I really think this is worth it to do so that you are not second guessing yourself and can be happy and comfortable with your decision (and not stress out all summer). I have not seen Geneseo, but heard it is beautiful. I’ve seen Binghamton twice - the grounds are kind of nice but the buildings are kind of ugly and institutional looking.

Hope this helps. You may need to do some convincing to your parents. BTW, I am a parent - I was not really happy about going back up to Binghamton last weekend but my D said she could not make a decision without seeing it again (she’s already seen it once!).

I think in a way these issues resolve themselves. Once you go there as a student–if that’s what you decide to do–you will find a way to make it your own.

Visit is the best thing.

Some people like different things than others. I know some kids who hate Geneseo and think its an ugly, overrated campus. Others, say that Geneseo is beautiful and where they wanna be.

Same thing with Binghamton.

Both are great schools. So either way, you win :)

Think about why your teachers said what they did, they probably had a good reason for saying that bing. was for you, whether it was the strength of the program or the atmosphere itself…
