i cost money to drop a class?

i have been struggling in one of my class, and i am consider to drop it out. But the register office told me that i have 100% liability to the tuition. But i heard another thing from my classmate that once 60% of the semester is over then the financial aid is yours and school cannot ask you to pay back if you drop
which one is true??</p>

<p>Think about it, you have to go through the university Registrar to drop a class, they enforce the school policy, no matter what your classmate or any of us says.</p>
