I cracked my schedule.

ahaha, in 8th grade I wanted to take AP Calc BC in junior year but now I'm stuck with IB Math HL, which just absolutely sucks.
I did a HS planning project during 8th grade and it just turned out totally different.

I have taken 6 AP exams and have 5 AP courses now and I go out basically every friday and saturday night in addition to playing varsity Lax and Soccer but I finish all my work on Sunday. You just need to learn how to manage your time and be disciplined and you then can still have a really good social life.

As for the schedule, I don't see a science for 11th grade. I would suggest taking AP Chem because you already have AP Physics (B or C?) and AP Bio, why not finish off the 3 main AP sciences. Also, you definitely need to take calculus senior year.

WOW. you're in 8th grade and you're planning your senior year schedule?!

You need all three sciences (Phys, Chem, Bio) at the very least. Do NOT skip out on Chem because of an elective.

I think I might talk to my guidance about doing online P.E. and Health {I know, how is this possible?} . Thus, I will be able to fit Chem. and AP Chem., Junior and Senior year, respectively. Leading to no AP. Art History though.

But considering I want to a lawyer specializing in cases relating to genetics (Genetics major, then law school) I figure this would be more suited.

Ok here is the plan.
Step 1. Put a big X through everything after grade 9.
Step 2. Chill for about 2 years and enjoy yourself.
Step 3. Actually figure out some basic academic interests and create a schedule that is not based on a mold you think will get you into HYPS

Edit: Did not read this yet

Pretty much just means put a wayyyyyyyyyyy bigger emphasis on step 2 and stop worrying about career focused garbage.
Do you know how much is going to change between now and when you plan on going to college let alone law school....

Thank-you for that very helpful advice.

WOW. I cannot believe an 8th grader just said this.

I am going to tell you my experience. In 8th grade, I was set on being a doctor. I was going to HYPMS blahblahblah and then medical school. I even had my future medical school planned out - I wanted to go to JHU. Then I wanted to be a brain surgeon or whatever made the most money. It was going to be a lot of work, but I would get to "help people." I didn't plan ahead or anything, I just had a mild inkling that I had to do well in school, participate in extracurriculars, do well on the SAT, and that would be the overall path to get into HYPMS. So I entered high school without really caring about much besides to get As in class - normal classes that normal people take. And I did, without really stressing about much besides what was right in front of me - my FRESHMAN schoolwork. And I decided to take, in my sophomore year, whatever everyone else took. That included Health and Gym. Less than a year later, I decided that I wanted to be a physics major. And then I decided to plan ahead-not 4 years ahead like you, but a year ahead-and take online physics, skip a bunch of courses, take senior classes as a sophomore, etc. And I was supposed to get straight As. Well that was stressful and involved a lot of worrying and planning to get right, since I needed to organize taking outside courses and doing junior- and senior-level things that nobody else was doing in my class just so I could take higher coursework. And classes were getting harder as well, so getting As required a lot more stress but I had no time to study because I was doing like fifteen clubs at the same time because "I needed to be active and get leadership positions in clubs to get into HYPMS etc." So basically I stressed about all my clubs and whether or not I was going to be president, and all my classes, but never had time to put in any work in my clubs or my classes. Which ended up being a bad experience. My grades were horrible and I am basically in none of those clubs anymore.

Anyways, about mid-way through junior year, I decided that I wanted to be a math major, because I didn't like my physics classes all that much. I took on more APs than anyone else in my school but this time, instead of stressing but not studying, I didn't stress OR study...because in my junior year, I was basically burned out from everything that I've planned and thought about in my last 2 years of high school. (Basically what I did in sophomore year, you're doing now.) So my grades were worse than before, but I honestly didn't care anymore. I dropped basically almost every club that I was in the last two years, despite having made intricate plans about how to become the president and who I should beat to become president. Basically I did nothing in these clubs besides scheme against the other members. Trust me, if you're going to be planning so far ahead, you're going to get burned out in one or two years. And junior / senior years are definitely the most important, so you really should save all your energy for then.

And now I'm a senior! Yay. If I were to start over, one thing I'd definitely do is, instead of saying "Well if I fail this test, i'll still have loads of chances to study and bring up my average," I would have studied for each and every test - at least for a little bit - and maintain a good average instead of failing the first half of each semester and then scrambling to get 100s on every test after that to bring up my average (which I think did not work a single time). Instead of joining clubs with the sole intention of becoming the president, I wish I chose a club that I genuinely liked and actually did something. Instead of calculating what my GPA would be if I took X number of AP courses and got straight As, I wish I would have focused on studying.

But that's just what I learned. Academics and school didn't turn out too horribly for me as I've made it sound...but it could've been better. Plus, it could've been better and much more fun if I wasn't worrying about the future so much!

Just my experience.

Anytime mang.

Hey, what happened to a math senior year? It is always good to get calculus done before college.

I forgot to add AP Calc. AB to my post.
Thank-you, ana ivanovic for the advice. (:

the best advice I could give you now is relax.
Dude, you'll have plenty of time to freak out about scheduling stuff, and I'm not recommending completely ignoring your high school schedule, but I would have really liked for someone to have told me that freshman and even sophomore year is pretty easy. think about what you want to do and how your going to get there but don't hold yourself to an inflexible mold :)
