Perhaps it might give it away…but why don’t some of you “attempt” to describe a somewhat “typical” i-day for those who have another 18 days left?

Lemme see…arrive about 10:30 a.m…say good bye…walk up stairs…fill out forms…get first set of “stuff” walk down stairs…out to bus…sit straight…eyes forward…get off bus in 5 seconds…stand at attention…and off we go.

Blubbering parents mill around watching bus motor off....and collect at the chapel wall next morning to try and find child in a see of BDU or in your case ABU uniforms although they all look the same.

Eagle's got about 90% of your day covered with those two things. It's quite an experience...

Looking back though, I can honestly say that there's a purpose to (almost) everything they have you do, and that it's all worth it in the end. Remember that when the going gets rough. It might not seem like it on I-day, but your first year will absolutely fly by too.

Sorry for being a downer, but I-day and the second day were the worst days of Beast for me...most people agree. Don't worry though, because you'll get used to it and learn to get past it, so life will get much better after the first few days.

But yeah, pretty much you'll be standing at attention in A LOT of lines, getting a bunch of stuff, and getting yelled at...that's a brief summary of I-day.

Just deal with it. It's not fun. Especially if you don't like needles, haircuts, Uncrustables, or gatorade, but every single person who has ever graduated the academy has gone throught it. It will end eventually and it's really not that bad. Just remember that you may get freaked out by the cadre but so does most everyone else. They won't kill you and they can't stop time. Just go with the flow and try not to stand out if you don't want to get yelled at. But it's not that bad either. And basic actually becomes a lot of fun once you get out to Jacks, in a twisted sort of way.

Also, I forgot, but the second day was worse for me than the first because it's longer. But that night you'll probably be allowed to go to church which is great. Even if you're not religious you're still welcome to go, just make sure you're respectful to those of that denomination during the service. I.e. don't take Communion if you're not Catholic, don't come back from the Mormon service and make fun of the teachings even if you don't agree with them (I don't for the record), don't write letters during the service. I'm not making any of this stuff up by the way, it all happened.

I don't hardly ever get upset but disrespect for religion will irk me.... Just thought I'd throw that out.
