I-Day Report Times

0900- is son's time and I too will be easily recognized as the babbling red head hanging on to my son as he tries to shake me off and looks around to see if anyone is watching. Any other Tennessean's out there? We have reservations Downtown so we will walk over and grab a Starbuck's on the way in. He can't wait to get out of here, was ready to go in FEB. Has anyone started on all this paperwork? Oh my goodness we have to schedule a weekend to get it all done.

I've wondered if report time had anything to do w/ company assignments. DS had a pretty early report time (but not one of the very earliest) & is in 2nd Battalion. Does that jibe w/ anyone else's experience?

Also, we had very little wait time when he reported - it happened so fast, I didn't even really get to hug him "Bye!". :( That's okay tho' - looking back, it was probably better not to have any extra drama!

Be cool folks. Relax. I know it's easier said than done (I still get emotional about letting the 1st born go!). But I also know that it will be easier for the plebe if the parents aren't stressed. Breathe deep & enjoy the day! I can think of no better experience than to witness your child's dream come true!

Of course we're all worried about the hardships of Plebe Summer & Plebe Year, but if USNA didn't think they could succeed, they wouldn't have gotten the appt.

What an incredible mixture of joy, relief, worry, hope & pride it is to see them walk thru those doors of Alumni Hall! It's spine-tingling to think about it even now!!

I know, I know, I can't tell y'all to relax & then talk about spines tingling in the same post! Oh well - better start preparing yourselves for this crazy ride! There is nothing like it on God's green earth! Bravo Zulu to all of y'all who have gotten to this point!

Don't go to Starbucks for you coffee, go instead to the Dry Dock. There will -closed-circuit television there and you can watch the plebes getting their hair 'cut' (really shaved off), getting their gear etc. We actually saw our son getting his gear

Do they make copies of those?

0800- My mom's going crazy because I'm the baby and her only girl. This will be her second I-Day, my brother is a 3rd class.

I can't wait to meet ya'll!!

no but you can buy a video at the end of Plebe Summer and of Recognition Week at the end of the Plebe year. Watch out, a Mid's parent and their money are soon parted!!

I can understand why!

USNavalA2011! FINALLY! ANOTHER GIRLIE PLEBE! CONGRATS! And we will be right behind you at 915

bz2010

All last year we tried to figure out the rhyme and the reason to report times...there is none!

There will be early, middle and late report times assigned to every company. I gues it is the luck of the draw and your opinion as to what is "lucky" will be very different from the next guys.

It sure is different from my son's.

Folks, I recommend you simply show up as ordered and stop worrying about it. That day will be busy and stressful enough without adding wild speculation to it.

BREATHE, everyone. Thousands have gone before you and thousands will follow. Just go with the flow and you'll be fine.

I don't think there was worry. I think we were trying to figure out if we'd run into each other.

I'm trying to figure out where I can get a GOOD cup of coffee before 0630. Does the restaurant there in Dahlgren (sp?) open really early? Anyone know?

Okay, I just read over this thread again and noticed E11Wemzer will be there, also, at the booty break of dawn. I feel sleepy just thinking about it!

I may be wrong (it's been 3 almost 4 years) but I do seem to recall that Dahlgren does open early on I-Day and during PPW

Dry Dock opens at 7am

Also last year there was a set of tables next to the line for Alumni Hall that had coffee, cookies etc.

Okay, 0700 it's 1/2 hour later than the arrival time! Anyone who is a caffeine addict, like myself, will find that problematic! (JUST KIDDING!!) Maybe Starbucks will set up a little vendor place there and close down when Dry Dock opens. :D

i hear the earlier the better, for iday atleast. it just means we'll get through issue faster--and after getting yelled at some, we'll have more time to get settled in our room

Um, e11wemzer, you sound just like my son.

haha thanks? us 2011ers think alike...

0630 :( :( :(
