I have gotten straight A’s my entire high school career, but I did not get invited. My highest SAT score in one sitting was 1750, so that may be a factor as to why I did not get invited. But my friend did get invited with same grades as I and an SAT score of 1790. Any ideas why?
I got invited for the Honors Program and so did two of my friends. Don’t be bummed out; you can still be invited Freshman year. “Freshmen with a 3.50 GPA or above for the fall quarter will be invited to apply. Invitation e-mails will be sent during the winter quarter, with a submission deadline of April 10, 2014. Students must maintain a 3.50 GPA throughout their freshmen year to be eligible.”
I didn’t get invited with a 2060 and 3 Bs either. It’s subjective and college admissions is a crapshoot.
I got nearly straight As in high school and had a 1960 SAT, and never got invited to the honors program. So to answer your question, I have no idea what criteria they use for an initial invitation to the honors program. It honestly hasn’t affected anything since coming to Davis though.
There are many highly qualified students that do not seem to be invited to join the honors program. My daughter have a 4.2, is the class valedictorian, and has a 2080 SAT and was not invited. I’m sure there would be some perks, but I know you can still have a very successful time at UCD!
