I didnt score my goal 2000+ SAT?

I took the sat for the first time and got a 690 CR 590 M and 600 W with an 8 essay....I'm bummed about the score and does anyone think if I study hard I can get a 2000+ by the October sat?

So 1880 altogether

Yes! Definitely! My scores jumped up 200+ with 4 months of preparation.

However it is up to you and depends on how much you study, how well you study, and how well you know yourself and what helps you. With me, all my scores are generally the same, no one section is that much stronger than the other. So I study by just taking tests and seeing what I got wrong and why.

You, however show that you have a knack for CR and a weakness in Math and Writing (I’m not saying your scores are bad, just that compared to CR, your other two sections are lower). My suggestion is that you should work on math and writing the most. Maybe get specific workbooks with just math and writing and focus on those. Math is basically just learning what you don’t know, recognizing the type of math questions they ask, and plugging in the right method to solve the problem. Math is my weakest so I just did problems from a SAT math workbook in the car, along with additional studying at home.

Writing is recognizing the type of error. I memorized the 8-12 or so error types on the SAT (most of them you know) and once you do you start to recognize them easily.

I definitely believe your CR can reach 700s easily. If it’s just the vocab that gets to you then study flashcards. :)

You should definitely start now! Make a schedule and record your scores. See if there is any improvement :slight_smile: You can do it!

@K1Helen‌ thank you a lot!!! In all honesty I believe the reason I scored so low in math was because I haven’t learned that math in years and generally forgot most of it. I should’ve also included that I did not study for the test at all due to the stress of school and AP classes (dumb excuse but still) so I will definitely relearn the math that’s on the sat (I’m in AP Calc) and thank you for believing that I can do this!!! Will definitely be making a schedule and taking multiple practice tests.

@Marrissa‌ No problem :slight_smile:

If you study a lot yeah. Do some practice tests before your next SAT.

Bump

Do the blue book. I did alot of problems so I got the feel of the test, so I was able to correctly guess alot, despite not knowing alot of vocab. Essentially I got good at taking the test. Also lying is allowed for the essay. Just do more problems.
