I know every one is talking about what major to do. I am trying to figure out what major to do with my personality and what I’m particularly good at. The problem is I’m not good in any of my classes. I asked this question to my peers and they told do something I do in my free time. I doodle but I don’t want to do it for a major. I’m not good in English, Math or Science and I am not always social. I am not a leader type person. This pushes my options a lot lower but I want to be able to support myself in the future. Does anyone have any ideas that may help, Thank you in advance.
What year of school are you in? If you are still in high school, you don’t have to decide or know yet. You should begin to develop a general idea of subjects you may want to try out in college, so that you know what classes to explore in your first year. But you don’t have to pinpoint it right now.
I’m a Senior in high school. I know but for awhile many people would ask what I want to do. I don’t have an interest in anything so when I tell them I don’t everyone get disappointed and tells me to figure it out.
The problem is with those people, not with you.
When people ask you what you want to do, you can just smile and say “I’m not sure yet - my plan is to explore some classes in college to see what I’m interested in/what grabs me!”
If they tell you that you need to figure it out, you can just say “Thanks - I’ll be working with a college advisor to do just that.”
If they tell you that you need to figure it out right now, or anything else that’s bad advice, you can just say “Thanks for the advice, I’ll consider that!”
Thank you. This made me realize I don’t have to race for a major quite yet. If I did I could’ve picked the wrong one that I am not going to enjoy later. Again, thank you for the advice what you said made me think a little more clearly.
