Hello, I am new here. Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but I am going to try.
A few years ago I graduated high school and started college, but soon dropped out. Not because it was to hard, but because I didn't know where I was truly going. Since then I worked a few jobs, met new people, worked on expanding my knowledge. I want to go back to college, but I still don't know what to major in or what do I want to be. They say you should do what interests you the most, what you do or read about in your free time.
My problem is I am interested in so many things. I like to read about engineering, biology, sociology, electronics, economics, history, medicine, sports, crime etc. Other then books, these are some of the magazines I like to read Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Time, Wired, Forbes, National Geographic, Psychology Today etc.(I don't get all of them at the same time).
I can see myself doing so many things. I just want to know it all. When I think about choosing a certain major/career, sometimes I get a mini panic attack, do to feeling that I will end up missing out on so many other things. However, I know if I keep going like this, I will end up missing out on everything.
I guess I need suggestions or other peoples stories, on how to choose something that will at least let me combine some of these fields. That way I will feel less bad about missing out in other ares of knowledge. Just for the record, because I see so many people mention it, I am not motivated by the money, status or job prospects. I hope this makes sense. Thanks

alwaysstudent – just because you choose to get a degree in a certain area does not mean that you are cutting yourself off from other areas. You are obviously a self motivated learner. Do you have an advisor at your college or someone qualified to help you explore your options? Combined majors are very popular right now, but I have no way of knowing what might be available at your college/university.
Another thing to think about is not necessarily what you are most interested in, but maybe what you are really good at. Also consider your personality – do you enjoy being alone and working or are you a “people person” who is at your best working with others.
Hope this helps a little and best of luck to you!
