I don't get the point of asking a girl to prom

Yes, its for the dance and all... but isn't it more fun to spend the ultimate celebration of 12 years of school with your best buddies? ie the guys in my case. I mean, these are the people whom i've hung out with every school day for the past 3-4 years, even 6 for my best friend. So wouldn't it be better to just fool around and have fun with them?

Of course, I'm a graduating senior this year and i have no idea how the prom works. I've asked a girl, but so far, i'm sure we'll probably both just go with friends, and dance together for a few songs or something during the dance.

Somehow I don't think it will be fun if all your friends have a date. At least, where I'm from, everyone gets a date months in ahead, but you definetely don't hang out with them the entire time. Basically, a date is just ensuring a cute entrance, nice pictures, a couple dances, someone to pour you punch, and maybe even some after party fun :)

Yep, that's what I like to think of it as. Except there's always the after parties which are more fun than prom.

I have yet to decide if I am actually going to mine (mostly because the whole prom thing isn't exactly my idea of fun unless as has been said it is with friends).

As the dates go, I find myself in a bit of a conundrum because one of my best friends asked a girl and she told him she wanted to see what someone else said first. All this was unbeknownst to me and I asked said girl and she said she would.

^oh man... that could ensue some trouble

jlagrone u just signed yourself up for some jerryspringer action
GL

hopefully it won't amount to that. we're all friends and usually reasonable and as Isaid, I'm not even sure if I am going to go so its not a solidly set thing

well I am going this year to hang with friends, last year I created the anti-prom, me a bunch of friends from school went to an internet cafe and played massive games of Halo. Prom and awesome after parties, here I come.

Prom just doesn't seem like my idea of fun... I'm thinking of not going.

we have an afterprom that the parents put together, to prevent the kids from partaking in the above described parties. from what i have heard from past years, it is much more fun than the prom itself (lots of stuff to win: laptops, gift certificates, food stuff, mini fridges, iPods, etc.) so i am for sure going to that, but it means that the dance will be different from other dances ive gone to (no "questionable activies" to make the dance more fun) so i have to decide if i am actually going to it

would it be bad to go with a sophomore you went out with when you were a junior (she was freshman then)? or be better to have fun with friends and have no pictures, etc.

My boyfriend asked me randomly last week so it'll be my first prom and I'm excited. My friends last year did the anti-prom too. My 2 best friends and I had a slumber party at my house lol

It kind of sucks cause I wish my boyfriend didn't go last year so we both wouldn't know what to expect which is why I waited til senior year to go.

i loved prom last year and i'm excited for this year!!!! the afterprom should be fun too... and i must say that going to formal dances with your friends is fun, but going with a date is fun too.
