I don't have a facebook! Instant outcast status?

So what if employers have access to your facebook? Ooooo big deal.... i mean come on what are they gonna do? Not hire you just because you wrote in slang or had vodka as one of your interests? It's stupid to think like that.

Make it private if you're that paranoid. Or just don't put on questionable stuff. Employers don't like stuff such as drunk pics, provocative pics, etc. If you use it just for pictures of you and your friends acting normally and put up stuff that isn't laden with four letter words it's fine.

A lot of smaller groups, like the Bible study I'm in, use Facebook for announcements. You should get one just for that purpose.

Also, is anyone else annoyed with all those silly applications? I have extended info and grafitti on mine (always wanted to add some art and a section for favorite video games), but the other stuff makes MySpace look professional...

It makes it look like if you are a heavy partier now, you won't change when you're in the work world. And if your partying has gotten you arrested or something, that could be used against you when applying for a job.

facebook use to be for college but now its for everybody and their mother.

edit: oh I got a poke by somebody in highschool in freakin canada! time to delete all my ***** because its is just plain stupid to have.

Have any of you overheard people say "yo, this myspace girl [random degrading comment]"

Now I still hear the same thing, except 'myspace' is substituted with 'facebook'

So it's the same difference

Seldom do I ever use Facebook after reading the privacy policy. The fact that employers can see it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the fact that Facebook can/does sell your information to advertisers. Another thing many of you didn't know is when you upload your photos, Facebook has the rights to do whatever they want with them. And when you delete them, they aren't really deleted, just like Google does with your searches, it keeps them on file.

So get a facebook if you want, it's a great way to keep up on local events. However, be very careful of what you put on there.

People use facebook like it's msn. Do you feel that msn has greatly contributed to your social life? If not, then facebook wouldn't either. Besides, wouldn't you prefer talking to real people instead of typing on your computer?

im going to be completely honest here, if u dont get a facebook u are actively taking a step forward into ruining ur social career for the rest of ur life. let me explain...1st u dont get a facebook cause everyone is doing it, and follow this mentality ur whole life, before u know it the same thing happens with flying cars and jet packs, and ur the only one dumb enough to be on earth while the rest of us are zooming around in the air.

I get irritated when people don't have facebook. Why? Because in college you will need to contact random people in your classes or in clubs, and generally there is more info about them on facebook than on your school's online directory. I love being able to look someone up and get their AIM sn or phone number instantly.

Regarding privacy, just make your profile private to friends only, that's what I do. If someone wants to see my profile they can friend me and I can monitor who is seeing what.

The only real problem with not having a facebook that I can see is that a lot of people use it to invite people to/advertise for their events. And while you will still certianly hear about big parties and such just from talking with people, you might miss out on smaller gatherings, since people tend not to call about that kind of thing anymore.

(Note, when I say party, I don't just mean the drink + dance kind...in fact, that's what you're more likley to know about anyway. But you might miss out on the watch-a-movie-and-bake-a-cake thing that girl you are friendly with but don't see every day is having).

If your too stupid to pick up a phone and call a friend or use your fingers to type a message then by all means get a facebook or myspace.

I have one. Facebook is better than myspace, because it seems the only people on there are college kids, which is good.

But there are still other non college kids, I'm just not friends with them.

eventually all the online social network merges together and becomes similar. You have facebook for friends far away, at least you know what they're doing, sharing photos and stuff. If your friend is in UK or other side of the world, you can't really contact them, but you don't wanna lose them. However, there's a line. Facebook is becoming rediculously stupid by adding those weird craps now (whatever they call it).
