I don't have an interview.. :(

Well, it’s January 22nd and I am yet to be contacted for an interview by a Brown Alum. What’s funny, is that the two other kids from my school that applied to Brown both had their phone interviews last week. Does everyone get an interview? Since we are from the same school, am I wrong to think all three of us should have had interviews around the same time? Should I be freaking out?? Is anyone else in the same boat?
please reply!
Cheers.

i'm with you, exact same situation, my friend got one, not me, and he submitted at the same time (a day after) me.

is january 22nd the deadline for being contacted?

I was just called about 5 minutes ago to set up an interview within the next few weeks.

Ugh, I need to call again to see what is going on with my interview. Thanks for reminding me.

I haven't heard about an interview either...or even recieved the "Track your application" email... uh oh..

Last year I was contacted about my interview in about late February, so..

There's no rhyme nor reason to when you are called. It has little to do with when it was submitted in most areas.

What happens is that the interview assignments are farmed out from the admission office using a regional system. The Area Chair in each region then assigns the interviews to his/her team of alumni. Some Area Chairs farm out assignments constantly as they dribble in, others wait until all of the interviewees for the area are set, and then assign all of them at once. Sometimes this is easier as you can see how to more evenly divide the number of interviews per alumna/us.

Once your name has been assigned to an interviewer another lag can happen. Let's say that person is on a business trip, or sick, or facing a work deadline when the assignment is made... it might take another week or two for you to hear from them.

Remember too that all the interviewers (and Chairs) are volunteers. So normally in January when we get the assignments we are also just back from Xmas break, dealing with getting through our bills & mail, getting out kids back to school, ramping back up at work, etc. So it is really normal not to hear until late Jan or Feb even.

Finally there are always wacky situations like kids from Hawaii being assigned to an Area Chair in Topeka. That takes some time to straighten out too.

Don't stress!

for me, i still haven't gotten mine but one of my friends has (about a month ago)... and we applied at the same time.

I got an interview call a week ago but i haven't received any true confirmation / tracking PIN letter/e-mail from Brown yet. Have other people gotten theirs? And is it normal not to have received confirmation this late? By the way, I did get the automatic confirmation right after you submit the app. I sent in my app on Dec. 31.

No interview call or email. Live in NJ.

Nothing yet...am I supposed to be informed sometime soon?

Speaking of PIN numbers, are you referring to the online account activation codes that allow you to view the status of your application online? I received that information quite quickly. I applied the day of the deadline (December 31st) and it was mailed to my school on January 9th.

I checked my application status last night, and I was alarmed to see two pieces of information missing. First, they have not received my teacher recommendations, but they had received my High School Report (2A). My university counselor is the person that handles Teacher Recs. so I was under the impression that they would be mailed in along with his own Recommendation.

The second issue was that they had not received my SAT scores which I am sure that I mailed to them. I have confirmation from the College Board. Though, I did not use my full name when registering with the College Board. But, with Brown, I indicated this name that I go by, under the nickname category. I will give them a call on Monday morning to clear things up.
