Did any of you apply to Queen's? I did, and we had to submit a Personal Statement of Experience. One of the questions was: In 250 words or less describe how your experiences, abilities, etc. will contribute to Queen's. Since they didn't specifically ask for an essay, I decided to write a poem. I thought it would help me stand out and since they wanted to know about our personalities, I thought it would be a good move because poetry is a huge part of who I am (I've been writing poetry since I was 7). But now, as more and more time passes, I'm starting to get really scared. I don't know if what I did was a good thing or a bad thing. So...what do you guys think? I just need to know where I stand. Queen's is my 2nd choice. McGill is my 1st. But now I'm not sure if I'm going to get into either of them. Thanks in advance.

Tasnia- I dont know if I can help, but I can reassure you.
I think a poem does show who you are and is perfectly fine to submit. As long as it doesn't start "Roses are red, violets are blue.....", you should be more than fine.

with thousands of applicants submitting a PSE, a poem (as long as it isn't cheesy or anything) would definitely make you stand out & that's what they're looking for. as long as you answered the question, i dont see why you have much to worry about :)

thanks. of course it's all a matter of perspective. I don't think it's cheesy, and it's definitely not the "roses are red, violets or blue"-kind, but...who knows? but thanks again for the good words.
