Hello! I'm a junior right now and most people in my classes are completely sure of where they want to apply to during senior year. Since my school is pretty big, you must start your applications early if you want everything to get in on time and well done. However, I'm not really sure of where I want to apply to. Readers, may you please give me good suggestions based on the information I provide?
(Also, the information will be estimated to what it should be by senior year)

I agreed to not apply for any schools more than 8 hours away from Maryland by car. I plan to either double major in Biology and Economics or major in Biology and minor in Economics. I hope you can give me good options and thank you so much!

Really, your SAT scores will help narrow the field, especially if you need financial aid. Do you know how much your parents can contribute toward cost?

To Catria: Of course, but I’d like to know how much money I may get (if I can live on campus or not).
centennial13: I’ve heard from some seniors at my school about it, but many cannot afford it due to poor financial aid packages. How is JHU’s financial aid?
scmom12: Well my estimated score for the SAT by October was estimated to be between 1900-2050 if I continue to study for it. However, I don’t want to get my hopes up too much because then I will cry if I don’t get 2000 :’(.

Thank you for replying! I hope I can get more suggestions!

Every college has something called a Net Price Calculator on their website that will give you an idea of what your financial aid and costs might look like for the college. You need to run that for colleges people suggest to see whether they are affordable for your family. It is also hard to give school suggestions without SAT scores.

You might get a copy of the Fiske Guide to Colleges book and start looking through that for possible schools. If you haven’t visited any yet, go see a few schools if possible (go on the tour, eat in the cafeteria, attend a class if they are in session). Figure out what type of campus you like (large vs. small, liberal arts college vs. university, urban vs. rural, etc.).

You could consider St. Mary’s College of Maryland (in state, public honors college). Dickinson might be another option.

Well, I prefer a college in an urban area or some kind of transportation to a city. I look favorably upon a school population of more than 3000 but no more than 10,000. For diversity, I look for economic and ethnic diversity, and at least 30% minorities. I’ve only visited UMD-CP. I know the area well and I’m indifferent to it. During my spring break, I will be doing a long college tour, but I do not know where to look. My spring break is barely a week and my parents want a specific list of where I want to visit and when. Hopefully you can give me some suggestions as to where to visit.
Also if anyone has visited or is enrolled there, what about Wake Forest University?
