I DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM DOING

It is not a “detail” that you are asking for what is probably 10s of thousands of dollars in annual aid from the college. You want someone else to pay for it (parents of full price students and donors to the university). But can’t get your act together to even look into what paperwork is required and when it is due? This isn’t a DETAIL. I’m sure you have had exams, ECs, and some social activities. Every single one of them (even the exams) need to take a back seat to getting your FA paperwork in on time. Doesn’t matter what your grades are, EC awards, or about your date on Friday night if you can’t afford to attend college because you overlooked this ‘detail’.

That said, I would NOT ask to switch your app to RD. If your FA info comes late (because you were late), ask for an extension on your ED decision date so you can review your package. But if I were you, I would be groveling when I called the FA office. You messed up, and the college does not HAVE to hurry with your package or extend your ED decision date if they don’t want to.

Re: post 19…it would be the latter.

But if you get an ED acceptance and do NOT receive a financial aid package in time to know if it is affordable…how would you make a decision about acceptance? It would be like getting an ED acceptance with no aid…unless the financial aid office was working on your package, and the admissions office extended your short window to accept their ED admissions offer.

This student needs to ask what the implications of a late Profile for ED means.

So what I was saying upstream…IF the college will not work with this student who missed the ED financial aid deadline…then the student could ask to have their application moved to RD.

I contacted the college financial aid office. They told me quite briefly to simply get in my materials ASAP. Thank you all VERY much for your input. I do realize the gravity of my oversight–I was stupidly assuming FA was to be worried about later on after applications were due. In the future, I will certainly take more responsibility for FA and everything in general, as I’ve said. Thanks again. Cheers

Good luck!
