I just got my scores back for the ACT, and i'm really depressed. I see everyone on here with a 30 and they think it's bad, and I feel stupid. I don't know how to improve or get to that point of 30+. First time I took it, I got a 19. Last time I took it, the october test, I got a 21. I thought I did SOOO much better. Can someone give me advice on how to get a 30+, if even possible :(? I barley have time to do ACT class or anything..and my familys finical income isn't good now.
My scores is as followed:
English-21
Mathematics-18
Reading-24
Science-21

What schools are you looking at? And people don’t think a 30 is bad; They think it’s “bad” in terms of the schools they are applying to, such as the ivy league schools where the average ACT score is around a 33-34, so a 30 and under is “bad” to them.

all florida schools, UF and UM first choice.

What about your SAT and GPA UW and W…? EC’s and other stats?

never took SAT…UW 3.5 W 4.1 I’m a golfer, dancer, singer, tennis player and won numerous awards my whole life and done all competitively. 300 Hours, international club… thats what I can think of on the top of my head

1: You do, or should have time to get that score up. Plenty.

2: Buy a ti-83 for the math portion. LEARN how to use it. I PROMISE you +6-7 points in your math section. (i can’t multiply on paper but managed a 31 on the math part of ACT)

3: Buy two very inexpensive books “The Real ACT one with 3/5 tests” (as low as 5$ on amazon) And a supplementary ACT prep guide (barrons/pr) etc.

Practice tests are the key to learning the ACT.

If you have a good amount of time before the next test date, take up reading. Read stuff that interests you it will greatly help you in reading/english.

Science is hard >.< just its just hard… >.< But, the best advice would be to do the passages from easy (5 questions) to hard (7 questions)

thank you so much ! Yeah math is my worst -____-

For science, something I recommend (that I would never do normally) is to skip the passage itself and just go straight to the questions. I find this necessary due to time constraints. Normally, you are able to read a question and refer back to a chart, table, or graph to answer the specific question. Sure, you may miss 1 or 2 trick questions because you didn’t read the passage, but overall, you will get through all of the passages and it will yield better results.

Experience: 34 superscored ACT

thank you !

Maybe you should hit the books and stop shopping. Lol. Just become more comfortable with the test’s format.
