ok so I did not do so well on my ACT plan test (im a sophmore) and I got a composite score of like a 19.....REALLY BAD!!! :( :( :(
20-English
18-Math
20-Reading
16-Science! :(

I did really bad... and im probebly going to take the ACT and SAT next yr and I want a composite score of 30 on the ACT... can I do that??
has anyone here ever seen or been in a situation like this and got a high score on the REal test?? I really need a 30.. this summer im practicing Barons ACT Math 1 book, and hopefully some science and what not... so what do you think?

ALSO! I have forgotten how much time do you have on each part?

PLEASE HELP!! I dont know what to do :'(

WOW! Okay, don't freak. But with scores like those and you're only a soph, register for a course at like Kaplan/Princeton Review because you need it.

Prep up. You have the potential to make 30s. With scores that low you have a lot to learn and a lot to improve on.

When you get into the 30s that is where it is hard to increase your score because it is usually one question that determines an extra point or not.

also keep in mind that the plan test means nothing. people with your scores can get anywhere from a 20 to a 32 on the actual ACT, i've seen it. at the same degree, people who do well on the plan test can do poorly on the ACT. my point is that that plan test is a really, really bad test.

at the same token, prep! 30's take work to get to if you're not a naturally good test taker.

I have heard that the PLAN test is not the best emulator for a real ACT test. While the scores may not accurately reflect your abilities (or they may), use them to your advantage in prep. Get The Real ACT book and take the practice tests. If you're done with that, get Barron's and/or PR and do the same process. Most anyone who works hard at it can get a 30 on the ACT, you just need to get used to the test.

By the way...
English: 45 Minutes
Math: 60 Minutes
Reading: 35 Minutes
Science Reasoning: 35 Minutes
Writing: 30 Minutes

Good luck and don't freak out so easily. You're a soph and you have plenty of time to take this test and get good scores.

I did that as a sophomore. I took the PACT and got a comp score of 19, and then this last year i got a 29 with a score of 33 on the Science. 29 isn't 30, but it's pretty close. Just relax and chillllll out. Go through and do all the questions that you know the answer to right off the bat, then work on the ones that take a little more time, and any that you don't get, leave blank, and then guess. You can't get marked wrong for any answer. This technique helps eliminate screwing up because you think too much. And on the Science, don't read the prologue of any question, just read the question itself and mark your answer. Reading all the information beforehand really makes it more confusing and unnecessary information floods your head. You'll do great! Just relax!

Yeah i took the PLAN and got a 26 then i took the real ACT in june of my sophomore year and got a 29. The PLAN is not that good of an indicator.

omg! im in the same boat..except im a junior...my plan score is pretty bad..and i been reviewing a lot because i got the test on april 4th and i hope to get better than 25..we'll see..pray for me! =)

Crossing my fingers! :)

Yea I'm in the same situation, I'm a sophomore and have a 26 composite and want a 30 or higher.

C-26
E-25
M-31
R-20(LOL this is where it screwed me up)
S-27

I hope I can get atleast a 30 and good luck to you too :).

Also remember that the maximum score on PLAN is not 36. I think the maximum is 32 on PLAN.

Yes, the maximum on PLAN is 32. Don't worry about your PLAN scores too much. My friend had a projected ACT in the teens from the PLAN and ended up with a 32 on the ACT. Good luck.

lol Reading really screwed me over:

English - 25
Math - 36
Reading - 21
Science -26

only if i could figure out a strategy that i could use to increase my reading speed...

yeah same the thing that screwed me ALOT was the fact that I didnt have enough time for each subject and I ended up bubbling in answers for all of the ones that I didnt get to and that didnt let my score go high... :( and yeah my reading was SLOWW!! lol
