I don't see why colleges should really ignore the Writing Section...

...because it's basically just the SAT II that was eliminated. They considered it as an SAT II before, why not as an SAT I now?

do they reeeaallly ignore the writing section? because that is what I am told, yet I find it very hard to beleive... It just sounds too riddiculous...

When I asked a Yale representative at a recent college fair, she told me that Writing counted just as much as CR/Math. However, when I asked several LACs, including Grinnell, the reps said that they did not look at Writing. So it really does differ from school to school.

hmmm...good for yale! for what are we taking it, if it doesn't matter... It is basically an SAT2 at least...

There was a similar discussion in a thread called "Yale and the New SAT." (Sorry, I don't know how to link it.) In that one somebody said that they had read that Yale was not looking at the writing score.

The colleges want to gather statistics on whether students who score well on the writing do better in college than students who don't score well in writing.

Kind of a no brainer, but at least they have their reasons.

hmmm...so no bearing at all... damn...

i am applying to this college they want 3 sAT 2's but SAT 1 writing doesn't count...i don't take chem or bio. so what should i take?
