From the Brown website:

Early Decision is reserved for applicants who have not applied to any other Early Decision or Early Action programs (Ivy League or non-Ivy League institutions). Brown reserves the right to withdraw the applications of Early Decision applicants who do so. You may, however, apply to other colleges at any time under their respective Regular Admission programs.

How is that allowed if it's not SCEA? I know ED's binding while EA and SCEA aren't, but does that not seem fair somehow? Could someone explain this to me, please?

What is there to not understand?

Why, I guess. How is it fair that you're only allowed to apply ED to one school and not EA to any others?

Dunno... I guess it's just a crazy policy like Georgetown's.

I don't get that idea either (as every EA school I'm applying to I'm only doing so to get an answer sooner), but it's the school's own policy.

Maybe it's not very friendly, but it's entirely within their rights to have that policy. I don't know why they chose it...though they don't sem to have any trouble getting plenty of ED applicants, so...
