I Don't Want Chance - I Just Want You To Decide My Reach, Match, and Safety Schools

Alright, I don't want to be chanced. But I do need to see if the schools I have in mind are a reach, match, or safety.

My fear is that I have too many reaches, and not enough match/safety, so if you could just copy the list of colleges and then next to each one write "r, m, or s" for reach, match, and safety, respectivley.

A little background:

I'm asian, from NY, first generation. My parents came to the USA about 19 years ago, I was born 3 years later here in the USA. My older brother went to SUNY Stony Brook, and then Columbia for his MBA.

Just finished 11th grade with GPA unweighted at 89.583. Ranked 220/713 (30.8%). I'm trying to get under 25%, but I don't think that will happen. I take mostly Honors class, for example this year I took Math B H, Chemistry H, and also APUSH. Mid 80's for most of them.

I also run XC in the fall, indoor track in the winter and outdoor track in the spring. Started in 9th grade and have been doing it ever since.

Only bad thing is that I don't really have any other EC, and no volunteer work. However I'm looking to do some VW this summer (would that help or would colleges be like this kid only did it to say he did some?)

I'm probably going to run in college too. Whether it be with a scholorship or walk-on (which I think I can do for some of the more athletic colleges).

My SAT scores are terrible. I was 1560 in May, but I jumped 110 points to 1670 for June.

I wanted to major in business/marketing, also maybe like exersice science/nutrition.

Also a side question. For the colleges listed below, are SAT IIs important? Should I consider taking SAT II in October for these colleges?

Here is the list:

Arizona State:
Babson College:
Bentley University:
Florida State University:
Michigan State University:
Northeastern University:
Ohio State:
Penn State:
Pepperdine University:

Thanks.

I really can’t say much about your application, but since a large majority of the schools your applying to are SUNYs, I’d say you’d stand a good chance. However, if you still have time this summer, meaning you were a junior this year, you really should put some effort into your SATs. Your GPA isn’t bad but has to be supported by something else. Even if you took honors courses, unless your school is highly competitive, there is really no reason to have less than a 90 b/c APs are more difficult. One effective way to help colleges overlook a mediocre GPA is to show them your efforts in ECs. Track and Field is good, especially if you spent a lot of time on it but try doing other things. There is no need for you to excel at everything you do. Try activities you enjoy because it will be much easier and more captivating to talk about memorable experiences in your college essay (worth 20-40% of your app or so) than to talk about activities you did merely to put on your resume. Don’t worry, if you put your mind to it, there probably will be many things you do within your first semester of senior year.

URI: in.
Northeastern: reach, try for better SAT’s or ACT’s to be a match
UConn: low reach
PC: reach

Those are the only I know. :)
