I don't want to hurt my chances by screwing this up...

OK, so, the Yale supplement essay is pretty much another common app essay. I had the idea that I could use a prompt from another college to which I plan to apply that requires that the essay be under 500 words and about a different topic than the common app. I'm interested in applying to Brown and MIT RD, so I figured it would be convenient if I used one of their prompts to overlap with my Yale essay. Would this be foolish? What i mean is, would the Yale admissions officer know that I am using the same prompt from Brown/MIT and probably the same essay, or should I not even worry? The prompts I am considering are:

MIT
Essay A: Tell us about an experience which, at the time, really felt like "the end of the world" -- but had it not happened, you would not be who you are today. Describe the process through which you discovered value in the negative.

Essay B: Describe the world you come from, for example your family, clubs, school, community, city, or town. How has that world shaped your dreams and aspirations?

(Completely Optional) Tell us about something that you have created. This can be, for example, a design, a device, an object, an idea or concept

or Brown: What is an academic experience, project, class or book that has influenced or inspired you?

Help please? :) thank you!

I don't really think it matters whether or not you reuse essays. People do it all the time and still get in. The only way that Yale or any of the other school you are applying to will know whether or not you reused an essay is if you specifically address the college's name (say MIT) in your Yale essay.

When stating the topic, tweak the title name and tweak it a little bit. Like (this is cliche, but for the sake of an example) Learning to Find the Silver Lining or something instead of "The process through which I discovered value in the negative"
