I am an incoming junior and a declared political science major. However, I do not want to do political science anymore. I feel that I am missing out on much more by majoring in Poli sci where I have not done well grade-wise and not seen it as my passion. I am probably thinking of switching to History or Religious Studies. I want to minor in Public Policy or Music.

Is it too late to switch majors?

I’m actually the opposite. Haha, I love Poli Sci, the classes, the professors, and how the students are generally politically aware unlike many of the apathetic science majors.

But it’s good that you found out you’re not interested in it, and that you have a passion for another subject.

Keep in mind that History uses very similar skills to Poli Sci. Tons or reading, lots of memorization, and tons of writing. You have to be a great/excellent writer to get A level papers in both majors. The skills used and required are similar, just the content is different.

I don’t think it’s too late, although if you haven’t any requirements for your other majors, it may take longer than 4 years to graduate.

Well, the History major in particular only requires 3 courses to declare the major, and 12 courses total, and History courses tend not to have prerequisites, so it is at least theoretically possible to complete the major in your four semesters (though you’ll have to check all of the L&S and History Department requirements to make sure you can declare the major and the concentration in the major on schedule to graduate on time).
