I don't want to sound like a shallow jacka*s, but

In all honesty, Rice has a reputation of being unattractive - recently I have heard this isn't true, but can an actual student please let me know!
I know this sounds like a small point, but dating is an extremely important part of college, and I have committed to Rice, so I would really just like to know.
Thanks.

Here’s my perspective as a heterosexual guy:

Well, I’ve seen plenty of pretty girls here. I’m actually a transfer student and started at University of Missouri (Mizzou). I mean, it’s true that at Mizzou you could walk to class and have a decent chance of passing someone who might as well be a model, and that doesn’t happen very often here at Rice, but there is definitely no shortage of attractive people here.

I think the main difference–as far as appearances go–between Rice and Mizzou is that at Mizzou there were a lot of girls who clearly dressed up for the purpose of getting attention from guys (and of course it worked). At Rice this seems less common, but I have this feeling that if girls at Rice ever did get together and decide to collectively dress like that then Rice would suddenly look indistinguishable from Mizzou.

And the attractive girls at Rice will probably be actually intelligent as well, so it’s like comparing apples and oranges when you try to compare attractive girls at Rice with similar at a regular state school.
