I got accepted to Appalachian State University about a month ago. A day after I got my acceptance I had to drop an AP class. I called the admissions office and they told me dropping a class was fine and that I should contact my admissions counselor directly. I emailed my admissions counselor and I am currently waiting for a reply. Do you guys think this might cause my application to be rescinded? I’m still taking 2 other AP classes and public schools rarely rescind applications but I feel like I lied on my application.
I forgot to mention that the class will not show up on my transcript.
Nah, you should be fine. If you explain it properly, have good reasons, and are doing well on your other classes, there’s very little reason for them to rescind it. Current classes don’t count for very much of your app to begin with anyways.
I just spoke on the phone with my admissions counselor. She said that I would need to send an updated transcript. The only issue is that the class won’t show up on my transcript.
They ask for an updated transcript simply for comparison’s sake. They’ll have the old one with the class, and the new one without the class. They’ll most likely just use it to make sure you’re actually still going to graduate high school. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine!
That’s good to hear. I really like App State but my only real issue is that the faculty can be a bit hard to work with at times.
I should mention that the class is AP Stats and I already have 6 math credits.
Oh. I was hoping you’d say AP Art History or something, but it should still be fine. 6 math credits is plenty, and if some of those are AP Calc or Honors Precalc, etc. you’ll still be fine.
They are. Honors Precalc, Calc AB, Calc BC.
Then, you’re all set for college! Just make sure you actually graduate, then you’re good to go. Congrats!
It is good that you called them. It would be a whole different story if you didn’t! Just make sure to still get good grades and not get senoritis because you can still get rescinded for bad grades.
