Is there any way I can un-enroll so that I can enroll at Johns Hopkins?

I imagine that would be up to JHU not Wellesley. I expect you lost your deposit if it was remitted to Wellesley. My D sent her deposit to Northwestern but is on Wellesley’s waitlist. Maybe she’ll get your spot.

I’m not 100% sure if this will work, but what I would do: post the enrollment to JHU today (if you post it on May 1st I think they will probably still consider it to be on time–post it and then call JHU to ask about your situation). I wouldn’t cancel out of your enrollment to Wellesley until you know you have a spot at JHU. If this works, I’m pretty certain that you will lose your deposit to Wellesley, but that’s how it goes.

@counsel I was fencing on the Northwestern campus yesterday and it is so beautiful…glad to hear your D can go there.

Yes, Lake Michigan and Chicago are impressive as is the Evanston campus and its programs and opportunities. Not a bad alternative if Wellesley doesn’t work out, although size and grad students might make it less comfortable overall. What did you decide?

I am accepted at Ohio State and still waitlisted Wash U. My coach in STL has offered to make me an assistant and train to coach, so if I do get into Wash U I will accept that. It will be a great opportunity to train as a coach. But if not, then a tough decision remains…take Ohio State or try a transfer route next year? I have always been in relatively small places so Ohio State just seems way too big for me and not so challenging in academics…what do you guys think? The other thing is that I’ve connected with a research group at Wash U now - trying to grow arabadopsis plants to study the increased uptake of CO2 in plants. It is one of the few (only?) plants whose genome is complete.

PS. One really big difference Wellesley vs NW - TRAFFIC.

Well, I don’t want to hijack the Wellesley thread, but I went to an LAC for undergrad and two big ten schools for grad and law (Purdue and Indiana). Your concern about size is justified, but probably not academics. Go with Wash U if you get the chance;save the large schools for later. Good Luck!

Incidentally, the 2-time gold medalist in fencing Ms. Zagunas graduated from my D’s high school.

OMG!!! Mariel Zagunis. She is an incredible saberist. I’ve never met anyone who knew her before.

@counsel I truly appreciate your advice but think I’m going to take the division 1 offer. If it doesn’t work out I’ll transfer then.

AND I will always wear my Wellesley hoodie, too. :)
