How's gay life at Pton? Is there tolerance towards homosexuality? Are there gay/lesbian datings?

your questions would probably best be answered by someone in princeton's pride alliance. here's the info:

Don't be embarassed. It's a legitimate question.

Although the resources f.scottie mentioned would help you more, the sense I've gotten in the past couple of weeks is that the image of Princeton as conservative is overstated. There are far more liberals than conservatives on campus, and most people seem pretty accepting regardless of political affiliation. Because of the perception of Princeton as a less tolerant school, the gay community here is not as big as the one at some other Ivies. However, the administration is trying hard to make Princeton more diverse and welcoming to all minorities.

Gay marriage came up in one of my RCA group discussions. Of 12 of us, although to the best of my knowledge everyone was straight, only one opposed gay marriage, and even he favored civil unions.

Yale is supposedly the best "gay ivy". I would have expected Columbia being in NY and all, but Yale has a pretty goos reputation for gay students.

for orientation week we had a big diversity seminar that was for like 2 hours

LGBT has a presence on campus and most ppl here are very tolerant towards homosexuality so don't feel any hesitation about joining us at pton on those lies about us being so conservative

diversity seminar = skipped.

i went to the discussion though. because my friends ratted me out and gave my RA my cell number. tsk tsk.

i guess pton has some snitches huh?

last year, i got into both yale and princeton, and i choose yale even though i liked many other aspects of princeton better. yale just has a bigger, more welcoming gay community, which i really wanted after suffering through high school. (note: i didn't choose yale JUST for the gays.) or i should say: someone could argue that yale doesn't even have one gay community. since there are so many gay people, you can just have friends, and, as an upperclassman told me, think of them as people, not as gay or straight.
anyway--the princeton gay community is/was a bit small and closeted for my comfort. yale doesn't NEED those workshops.
but princeton's a great school. academically, i think i may have been better off if i had chosen it...and i'm in love with the campus. don't tell anyone this, but i actually thought princeton was much prettier than yale...
