I feel like a slacker!

I don't know about all you other freshmen, but I feel like my fall sched. is so light.
im a humanities major so I am taking hum core (lec., dis., and sem) but I am also taking italian 1A.

but thats it!
and its 15 units.

is this waayyyyy too light?

College is a lot more intensive than high school. Perhaps in high school you took many classes all together, but in college one must focus on a more in depth level with the academics. Chances are your schedule will be just fine if you put the required amount of studying per week (Two to three hours everyday per class), sign up for some clubs and EC's and want to have time to chill out.

it's fine.

take your first quarter easy and find out where you stand in terms of how competent you are.

geranium, high school took way more work than college, at least for me. 2-3 hrs per day per class is a little overboard. Try one hour per day per class with some days having less and some more.

what would you recommend adding on second quarter?

breadth -- math or something

Yeah, I've heard a lot of people say high school was harder then college... I have mixed feelings though. The counselor at the engineering orientation at SPOP said the average freshmen engineers GPA is a 2.6 0.0 I am going to guess that most freshmen had one whole point higher unweighted GPA in high school. Do people just stop trying, or caring, or...?

well maybe people are surprised about the transition from high school to college and possibly even the transition to the quarter system. its not that they dont care its just its a different world and college isnt the same as high school. u may be trying really hard but u might just be struggling even through ur efforts.

Yeah for some people its harder for some it's easier.

for me, college is much easier as we have the independence to study the way we want. no busy work.

for most, however, college is harder. people just don't know how to study.
