I feel like my Resume needs some major changes

but I'm not exactly sure what to do.

(Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, or if it has been asked recently, though I didn't find much by searching)

Until now, my resume has, obviously, been dominated by various things relating to high school. Leadership positions in high school, activities I was involved in, various accomplishments in these activities (state or national level rankings, etc), test scores, and the like. Now maybe some of the information was inappropriate for my resume even then, but that can't be helped. My question is, what all should my resume include from high school, now that I am going to college?

I have some work experience, but not nearly enough that it would be more than a separate section. Should I keep achievements that I think are impressive? Should I keep my SAT score (and on that note, should I have included that in the first place?)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The general advice I’ve gotten is to go back three years for your resume, at least while you’re at the age you’re at now and with so few college experiences. [For example, I’m a sophomore, but I definitely have enough from just college to make a pretty nice resume, so I’ve completely cut out all of my high school stuff.]

Generally, if you have something like National Merit Scholar or a big science/art award, I’d keep that. Keep the name of your high school, GPA, and any upper-level courses that may apply to whatever you’re doing. [Writing a resume to work in a lab may mean your AP Biology class is helpful.] Don’t include stuff like SAT score, school science fair awards, “best student in ___” awards, or whatever.

That’s just my 2 cents.
