I feel so...incompetent.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like they aren't good enough to get into their "dream school" after reading some of these posts?

I'm only in grade nine (freshman) this year, but I constantly feel like I'm really, really, REALLY behind.

=(

I do, too. :] Don't worry about it too much Sallie. I'm currently a sophmore. ;D Hey it doesn't hurt to try to apply to your "dream school" does it? ^^ Just have faith in yourself. See ya!

lol me too.. especially reading the REJECT board on Yale/etc..
"i got 1600/800/800/800/4.5GPA/12APs and was rejected. oh well i expected it"
IM LIKE WHAT THE *****?? oh well

Hahah AMEN, t3hcan0n, AMEN.

& to SNEAKiiE: thanks so much! =) i do have to have some faith in myself.

Hmmmm. I wonder if most of these people make these stats up...Like, is it even POSSIBLE to have a 99 average and have ECs, volunteer Hours, and a social life?

I'm a junior and i'm ages behind. People I know have been freaking/working for college since your age, and I didn't even start thinking about it until 2 months ago. I don't have any ec's and haven't done anything but f' around during summer for the last 3 years.

I def feel behind.

no....i realize that ppl here are among the brightest in the nation. That's why i am kind of hating this site because this site makes people feel like crap. I mean..sometimes...some stats are kind of ridiculous. People really really should come here in the end of junior year...dats when they can really handle what their competition looks like.

WHOA WHOA WHOA..i just reread your post and you said u were a FRESHMAN?! GET out of HERE! Dont get discouraged early. Im saying this for your own good. If a freshman looks at these crazy stats and they don't match up with it..its most likely gonna make them feel like crap and pretty much give up on their dream school. Come back. im serious. I came here during my junior year and was overwhelmed.
o..if you dont want to leave, its good...ur not behind. a lot of ppl start slow. like me. no ec's till soph.

although these posts look intimidating, they are the facts, sadly we live in a very competitive and materialistic world...
sigh

I'm a Senior and spent a lot of time on this site during my college application period and felt the same you do. Don't get so wrapped up in other people's stats and what not, just focus on your own accomplishments and what you want to do when it comes to colleges. Oh, and don't be scared to apply to your dream school once the time comes (you're only a freshmen! you have PLENTY of time before you have to worry about this)!

Well it depends on what your dream school is.

If people are getting rejected from Yale with perfect scores, they obviously weren't a match personally. Schools (even Ivies!) really look at the EC's you chose and why, your essay (V. Important!) and things like that. To be honest, a million people could study and get near-perfect scores but how many people took a year out after high school, volunteered in South America and got a job to look after their ailing grandmother? (I didn't, but I'm just saying) It's how they think you'll do at their college and what things you can contribute. If you're just a run-of-the-mill student with straight A's but nothing interesting socially then you're out. I'm sure you'll do fine!! Best of Luck! And don't stress. With over 300 schools, there is more than one dream school for you, I'm sure.

You're welcome back Sallie. :] IM me anytime if you need me hun! :]

people hear are not the brightest in the nation, they just pretend to be ;)
