I feel so out of place

I've just been feeling really low recently. I transferred to UGA recently and I've been looking at freshman SAT schools for this school and I have been obsessing over the fact that I'm lower than the average. I got a score a little lower than the mid 50.., and only took it twice and barely studied. I just feel like it's a measure of my intelligence and it really bothers me that I know I will go though my whole life knowing that I'm not as smart as everyone else. I feel out of place here knowing that everyone's better than me.. And I keep thinking that I could have done better. I wish I could go back and take it again to prove to myself I'm smarter :( I didn't even take AP classes in high school and I didn't try at all. I feel worthless, and feel that everyone here is way smarter.

Everyone is NOT better than you! You would not be there as a transfer if you did not deserve to be there!! You must have done well in COLLEGE so far & that is way better than high school!!

@randomguy1234: You are in COLLEGE, no one cares. Do the work and perform as well as you can. Your SAT score will not affect how you perform in courses. Seriously, you think a marginally better performance on a multiple choice test (for which many of the freshmen admits studied for) means that everyone else is smarter than you? Multiple choice tests have a hard time measuring higher ordered thinking skills so your feelings are relatively useless. If you are taking courses that require far more than circling the correct answer, which I hope you are, you are basically on a level playing field. It is found that even those with high SAT scores are often intimidated by or resistant to problems and courses that require applications and higher ordered thinking because such courses require deeper thinking as opposed to memorization and testing “tricks”. All that matters is that you learn how to learn and think.

So yes, those people “circled the correct answers on the tests” so much better than you back then, but again, it doesn’t matter.

SAT scores are nothing but scores to determine what college you will attend right out of high school. Once you get into college, they don’t matter. If you’re able to do college work, you’re just as smart as everyone else.

Dude don’t feel out of place! I am a transfer student at UGA too, it gets better! There are tons of cool people, don’t worry. Message me if you need anything
