I forgot to add something in the additional information section of my MIT app

In my activities section I reference something in the additional information section that isn’t there on the app I submitted. Basically, I wrote an essay that talked about this activity and was going to put it in the additional information section but it didn’t fit so I just deleted it. I didn’t realize I also deleted the bit that I referenced in my activities section.

My questions:

  1. Will they notice something like this (I’m guessing they will) and if they do, to what extent will it affect my application?
  2. Can I somehow add this to my application even though I’ve already submitted it (maybe with a supplemental document form – on the MIT website they say that you can “download and print an MIT Supplemental Document Cover Sheet from your MyMIT account and attach it to any non-required document you submit” but I’m not really sure what they are referring to when they say “non-required document” – or could I email it to them)
  3. Should I email them about this.

Just go ahead and email the admission office about this.

But understand that they don’t need a whole additional essay to explain an EC. A few lines would do it, IF needed. These folks review over 100k apps in 5 years. Is there something so unique about your EC that they’d have no idea without a lengthy explanation?
