I'm in my first year of High School and all of my classes are advanced. The only actual 9th grade classes I take are French and Gym. I take the enrichment classes the school offers and I take 10th grade science (Honors Biology) and 11th grade math (Honors Pre-Calc). After school, I do Law Club, Debate, Future Business Leaders of America, Newspaper, and Computer Club. Also, as of 10th grade, I will be getting Varsity Football credit and will be joining our school's FIRST Robotics team which is 4th in the World. All through middle school, I have never ever gotten a B in my life and for the first time ever, I got a B in Biology. I am very devastated and now I think I wont get accepted into any college. Is it possible that I can still go to Stanford, Caltech, UC Berkley, UCLA, or UPenn? These are my dream schools but I dont want my chances to be ruined because of this 1 B. I have tried talking to my teacher but she wont do anything!!

First of all, it’s freshman year, the least important year; second of all, it’s one B. Your next couple years’ grades will be overwhelmingly more important so use this year as a guide/motivation to help you reach your highest potential.

UCs don’t even look at freshman year

If you want to stand a chance at Stanford, Caltech, UC Berkeley, and UPenn, 1 B wont kill you as long as the rest of your grades now and throughout high school are stellar, and yes, STELLAR.
